Days went by and we spent the time wisely. Zabuza-san rested up for his injuries and I cooked for him. When he was healthy enough he worked his muscles, since the effects of the senbon made your muscles tense up and freeze. At the same time, Haku and I took turns spying on the ninja's. Every time I went they were either eating or sleeping. Haku on the other hand always got the good info. They were working at the bridge that the man, Tazuna, was building. They were training on chakra control by climbing up trees using chakra at their feet and no hands. All this I didn't get to report, and now I feel useless.
"Zabuza-san, when are we going to get that man?" I asked cocking my head to the side as we walked around the forest.
"Soon, today actually. We're going to get him. Then we might get Gato once and for all." he smirked at the thought.
"Oh, That's good. What's the plan?" I asked.
"Haku will go up with me, you are back up." he said looking me dead in the eye.
"Oh." I said looking down as we kept walking.
It's like I am of no use to him. I guess I'm not strong enough. I'm not as good a ninja as him, but I can battle Haku and I've won once or twice, so why won't he let me battle? I've never been hurt in battles too. A couple of guys have got me off guard before and went for my back, but they never got me. Strange...
"We should go now, while the bridge builder is at the bridge with all the other ninja." Haku said tree jumping ahead of us.
Zabuza-san agreed and went ahead, while I waited in the back. The whole time I thought of how I just noticed I almost never get to fight. Kakashi-san and his students don't even know I exist yet. I got so lost in thought that when I looked up, they were no where to be seen. I sped up and final arrived at the bridge.
Zabuza-san was fighting Kakashi-san again, and everything was covered in fog. Haku was fighting the dark haired boy and had him in his ice chamber. I don't know how that boy isn't dead yet, he must be good. The girl with long pink hair and green eyes was protecting the bridge builder, while the blond boy with blue eyes was no where to be seen.
Throughout all the fighting, I never once thought about going in. Zabuza-san and Haku always won. No matter what, they would win. I knew it. I smiled knowing they were safe. After awhile I guess I dozed off in the tree listening to the clanging of shuriken and senbon needles.
I woke up to a stonge chakra in the air. The boy with blond hair was there and he had a weird red chakra around him. I furrowed my brows, wondering what the heck that was. I looked around and the boy with black hair was slumped on the ground, not moving. So, he died.
I felt tears in my eyes.
I might be a ninja, but every time someone in battle dies I cry. I wiped the tears away and looked at the blond boy.
"What have you done?!" he growled angrily at Haku and went up to Haku quickly and punched him in the face.
My eyes widened as the mask Haku wears broke into pieces. Haku stood there and let the blond boy run at him with his fist raised.
Haku, what are you doing?
The boy was millimeters from Haku's face when he stopped.
"Why do you not strike?" Haku asked him.
"Huh?" the boy wondered.
"Did you not just vow to avenge your comrades death by killing me? Or was it just empty words?" Haku asked.
The boy punched Haku in the face and Haku tumbled to the ground.
Haku!
"Your holding back. If that is all the strength you will use, you will never keep your vow. Perhaps he didn't mean as much to you as you pretend." Haku said.
