- Sophie's -
Sipping on my coffee, I made my way through the door of the building. I hated being there so much, it's like it could suck the energy out of me. Looking around, I felt so out of place because while everyone was wearing suits and ties, I was there in my crop top & neon bright skirt. As though it wasn't obvious enough I didn't belong there.
Walking towards the lobby reception, I wobbled my way through the crowd and settled the drink on the counter. Gathering the guts, I opened my mouth, "Hi, I'm Sophie Hartman. I'm here for a meeting with Modest! head, Claudia Simpson."
The lady looked up at me through her glasses. "Well, hi dear. Just a moment, I'll go on and check your name." she said as she started typing on her computer. "Sophie Hartman, Sophie Hartman." she chanted as she scrolled with her mouse. "Ah, Sophie Hartman. 9.15am at Level 7."
"Yes, that's right." I smiled although I wasn't very happy.
"Alrighty, dear. Here's a visitor's pass. Just return it when you're leaving." she smiled as she passed me a small little card with a land-yard attached to it.
I smiled, looking at her nametag. "Thank you... Ynez... Did I say that right?"
"Yes, I didn't think anyone would care who I was. Have nice day, Miss Hartman." she spoke once again, waving her hand slightly. I nodded my head politely to her before passing through the gates. I looked like a lost rat, taking half a minute to tap my card and make through it.
Although people were giving me weird looks, I continued my way in, waiting for the elevator. I purposely avoided the elevator with people in because I was so insecure with the fact that I was so out of place. So I waited for an elevator when no one was around.
I entered the elevator, taking a moment to remember where I had to go. As the doors were about to close, someone squeezed through the door and entered the lift with me. I knew who it was immediately. He ruffled through his curls before looking up, shocked to see it was me.
Well... This is awkward.
"Hi." he greeted me. I ignored him, still angry at him. "How's your morning?" he asked.
I continued to ignore him. I didn't want to start a conversation with him. I didn't want him to think I was okay with all this when I absolutely am not. It felt as though it took forever just to reach the third floor and I'm running out of time to answer him.
"Are you still mad at me?" he asked.
"Yes." I replied immediately, looking at the buttons of the elevator. There was an awkward silence between us and finally, the elevator had mercy on me and opened its doors. I rushed out quickly, not even looking back.
I had to walk the narrow hallway again and he was trailing right behind me. He had no choice anyway since we're going into the same room. I swear, this was the awkwardest situation I've ever put myself into. I spotted the two familiar figures and started rushing to them.
"Hi Ron. Hi Tran." I waved at them.
They smiled at me. "Actually, I'm Tran. He's Ron." the lighter hair guy said. "But good morning, Miss Hartman. How's your day?"
"I have coffee, so it's great so far." I replied, waving my coffee in the air.
"That's good to hear. Miss Claudia is waiting in her office for you two." he reminded us and I realised Harry was standing right behind me. I can even smell his cologne because he was so close behind. I smiled at Ron & Tran and made my way into the office.
"Why is she so nice to you?" I heard Harry ask them before going through the door. Well, if you didn't ask me to sign a contract to be your fake girlfriend for 1.5 years, maybe I'll be nice to you. I dismissed the thought in my head and immediately made my way into her office.
