Hello hello!

Kat walked home that day, but took a lot of detours on her way home. She needed time to think...and time to cry. She entered the house and did a quick glance around searching for her dad, but when she realized he wasn't even home she knew exactly what he was doing. Sex. where? She never knew. who? He never told her that either though she assumed it was more than just one woman he had been doing this with over the years. Anger built up in Kat and she expected more tears to come, but they didn't. Instead, there was just an explosion of mixed emotions inside her. Anger, resentment, hate, regret, sadness...

How could her father be so messed up that he completely forgot who he used to be? Believe it or not he used to be a really good dad. What happened to that? One morning they woke up and her mother was gone along with all her things, that's what happened. Kat stormed to her room and threw her back pack down on the floor with a thud. Her throat felt raw from crying so much. Her eyes were red and puffy. She sniffled as she locked her door and for good measure even moved her desk to barricade it.

Sara called her, but she ignored it. She couldn't talk to anyone right now. It was all too much and for a moment she wanted to give up and give in. After fighting for so long she wasn't sure if she could fight anymore. Fear had been controlling her since a young age and she hated how it consumed her constantly. She thought of her blades and how she yearned to use them, but she hadn't harmed herself in so long and she didn't want to start again.

However, she knew she was stronger. She wouldn't do something like that to herself...She slowly pulled a box out from underneath her bed and peered down into it to see her old blades. Kat bit her lower lip pulling one out and looking at it for a long moment as images flashed through her mind of the blood and the pain of the blade. She placed the blade back into the box carefully closing the lid and setting it back underneath her bed. Kat stripped to her bra and underwear as she went to her closet and put on an oversized white t-shirt. It used to be her dad's...He gave it to her when she was little and he had to leave for work. She would wear it to bed whenever she began to miss him.

Kat sighed and also put on some shorts, she put her hair up in a messy bun before sliding underneath the covers. She tossed and turned, but couldn't sink into sleep. Eventually, Kat stood and went to her window. Walking always cleared her mind so that's what she was going to do.
She climbed out her window and slipped out. Thankfully, she lived in a one story house so it wasn't long before her feet came in contact with grass. The moment she felt earth beneath her she surged forward pushing herself into a sprint. Walks were to think, but running helped Kat not think which was exactly what she didn't want to do. She didn't want to think. Kat ran for so long and so far. When she finally came to a stop at the edge of a street, she looked around trying to catch her breath.

Once she realized she was lost, she sat down with her back up against a tree and raised her head looking up at the stars. Her dad probably wouldn't be home till tomorrow afternoon from his little hiatus so Kat was in no rush to go back to the house. As she sat there she could feel herself becoming drowsy and though she tried to fight back sleep it slowly took over and her eyes closed.

When her eyes opened she saw the sun pouring through an open window...except it wasn't her window. Kat sat upright and looked around seeing a nice room. Not her room. "Oh my gosh..." She whispered with wide eyes as she quickly stood, but she stood too fast and black dots clouded her vision. "Woah." She heard a voice though couldn't see a face yet though the voice sounded familiar...but it couldn't be who she thought it was.

A hand grabbed her shoulder and stabled her. Kat blinked and her vision slowly cleared up, but when her sight came into focus she was only face to face with exactly who she had thought it was.

Jake Revelle.

"What the hell?!" She pushed him back feeling angry and confused. "I found you passed out on the side of the road." He said explaining, "I brought you to my house..." He looked in her eyes. This took care of the confusion, but Kat's anger was still there. She watched him distrustfully. "A thank you would suffice." He said looking down. Kat examined him to see him shirtless in basketball shorts with his hair sticking out in all different directions. She couldn't help, but realize how strong he was by the measure of his biceps and the look of his abs.

She shook herself out of these thoughts, "Thank you..." She said after a moment as her anger dulled.
Kat was usually shy, but she didn't think that her reaction to waking up in a different house was inappropriate. In fact, she thought it was her right to feel slightly upset with him. Jake nodded and looked back up at her making Kat suddenly feel self conscious. She knew she must've looked like she did every morning with her wrinkled clothes, dark circles under her eyes, and messy hair. Jake just smiled at her and she gave a small smile in return though she wasn't sure why. He left to let her get ready after telling her where the bathroom was.

Kat walked into the bathroom and knew she had no clothes so she'd just have to wear what she was wearing. She found a comb in a drawer and tried to untangle her hair, but finally gave up and just put her hair in a ponytail. She walked out and saw Jake waiting wearing jeans and a graphic t-shirt. Her kind of simple style. "Come on." He said, "Breakfast is ready." Jake led her downstairs to the kitchen which was massive. She bit her lower lip feeling more poor than usual.

He pulled out some cereal for himself, "Have whatever you like." He offered politely as he poured milk into the bowl on top of his fruit loops.  Kat gave a small smile and shuffled her feet, "I'm not really hungry..." She said and this was honest. Kat hardly ate in the mornings considering they had to ration their food because of the minimal money she earned from work. Jake looked at her, "I'm serious. Anything you want, you can have." This was a new concept to Kat and she arched her eyebrow before walking over to the cabinet and pulling out a bagel before sitting across from him at an island in the kitchen with stools.

She ate her bagel plain as he finished his cereal. Kat looked around starting to wonder what sort of work his parents did to be this rich. Where were his parents anyway? My parents both leave for work early." He said as if reading her mind and placed his bowl in the sink. She nodded and stood after eating her bagel. "Ready?" He turned and looked at her. Kat nodded again giving him a small smile. She looked down, "I'm sorry I snapped this morning." She apologized sheepishly. Jake gave a small laugh, "Don't worry. I'd be a little freaked out too if I woke up in the wrong bed." Kat  smiled looking up at him, she was blushing slightly because of having to apologize.

Jake grabbed some keys out of his pocket and spun them around on his finger leading Kat outside to a nice shiny ford. She rolled her eyes, "Of course he has a nice car." She thought to herself as she climbed into the passenger seat. He climbed in beside her and she glanced at him. Maybe he wasn't so bad...On the way to school, Jake didn't try to make much small talk. Instead, he turned on the radio just like Kat did every morning. She smiled tapping her foot along with the music.

They walked in together and she noticed some girls staring and starting to whisper. Kat crossed her arms over her chest feeling awkward, she bit her lower lip looking down. "See you at lunch." He gave her a short nod and a smile. Kat nodded, "Yeah. O-okay." She looked up giving a smile back. He smiled and walked down the hall away from her, she watched him until he disappeared from sight.

Jake Revelle was actually a really nice guy, but Kat still didn't trust him. She knew he would run away if he knew her story so she couldn't tell him. With a sigh and a shrug, she made her way to her first class with the image of him smiling at her in her head.
