The tension in the room is heavy as Principal King's hard eyes scan each of our parents. His cold brown eyes look absolutely stiff. The room is crowded since everybody's here, and the heat radiating off all the sweaty and nervous bodies are starting to cause a nasty odor. What's more; it's stone cold silence.
"Okay, Principal King, could you please tell us what it is that our kids have done," says Mrs. Hall, twiddling her thumbs and biting her lip.
"Certainly." He straightens up his back and leans into his chair. "These three children snuck into my office yesterday morning and covered my office with Post-It Notes. I appreciate the gesture of them realizing their mistake and cleaning it up, but breaking and entering is UNACCEPTABLE," he booms.
"So what do you suggest we do?" asks Mum, looking totally ridiculous in her 'peace' shirt and yoga pants.
"I wish to talk it over with the children, and discuss a fair punishment, although I must warn you, there will probably be very drastic measures. And if it's alright with you, I would like these three, (he points at Jazz, Josh and Tyler), to stay as well. It is always helpful to have previous students around. Christie, my assistant will take you to your waiting room." He beckons Miss. Donovan (who he calls Christie) and asks her to take all of our parents into the waiting room. She nods and takes them out in a rush.
His demeanor suddenly changes from anger to a overwhelming extremeness of seriousness.
"Okay, lets get down to business." Jazz closes all the blinds, Josh checks outside and Tyler leans back in his chair and smirks at us. I make a confused look and whisper to Lana.
"Do you have any idea what's going on?" I say.
"Not a clue," she whispers back. I give Jayden 'the look' and he shrugs his shoulders.
"Okay, well, I know this is all very strange to you, but let me assure you, it will all become clear soon," Principal King says with a sense of authority in his voice. Jazz, Josh and Tyler sit in their chairs, grinning and looking ecstatic while Jayden, Lana and I are shaking in our boots. (Metaphorically of course, I'm wearing a very cute pair of flats.)
"Let's start of with saying, I'm a spy." Say WHAT? A spy, a person who goes everywhere spying on people and getting information from people? The ones in the movies with the cool as techno gadgets and super-cheesy lines? Those kind of spies? Whatever!
Before I can get a chance to say anything, Lana buts in. "Are you saying that the Principal of our school, that has been the Principal for over 15 years, is really a spy? That's total rubbish, Principal King, or is that really your real name? Or should I call you Rob, cos' according to what you just said, you're not really our Principal. Is Rob even your real name?"
"You know Alana Astrid Robinson..." Lana blushes at the mention of her middle name. She says that it makes her sound like a positively incapable weakling. And I mean than word for word. Only her Mum and Dad, Jazz and me know her middle name so to Jayden, it's a total surprise. His jaw drops open and he bulges his eyes out at Lana. She looks super angry and just about ready to smack him on the face. Jayden's spent the last four years trying to pester the middle name out of Lana, and now he finally got it, but from the mouth of Principal King. Or is he our Principal, I actually have no idea? "...you are a lot like your sister."
