Ch. 1: Discovery

The sunlight jeered through the thick canopy overhead as I began to wake up. This place seemed so strange, yet so familiar. Darkness slithered as far as the eye could see, taunting me to wonder amongst it. Tall oak trees towered over the forest, seeming to have their own melodic tone as their branches swayed in the breeze. Was this where I called home? Did I even have a home? Who am I? These questions rambled through my thoughts as I began to wonder through this never ending forest. The wind that was slowly dancing across the leaves, suddenly began to quicken, sending a chill down my spine. Ignoring the feeling I made my way into the think underbrush that scraped against my legs causing an unpleasant ping of pain. Out of nowhere, a young boy, who looked no older than ten, appeared by a large lake fetching water into a large pot in which he held above his head. As I began to walk forward, the suns rays reflected off of the body of water blinding me. I shielded my eyes and pressed forward hoping to get a chance to talk to the young boy. As I got closer I noticed that the boy had vanished. Now where could he have gone? I looked around but to no avail the young boy still remained unseen. Had he really been here? I turned back to the water and looked into the crystal clear water. Standing there was a young man with midnight black hair. His jawline was as sharp as a jagged rock and his stature of a warrior. His muscular body was a dark olive tone, abs as hard as stone, and a small scar on the lower area of his stomach On his left shoulder was a dark, almost tribal looking mark. The mark looked strange and gave me an eerie feeling as if something would happen if I stared too long. As I reached out to touch the mark the man reached out as well. Then I realized that the man was me. I had been looking at my reflection the entire time. So this is what I look like I wondered to myself. Again I question my existence but another question burned in my mind. What was this mark, and how did I get it? I decided to keep wondering through the forest hoping to find someone who might know anything about the mark, this place, and most importantly, me.
