CHAPTER 28

AVOID MISTAKES..

Just one word, one simple name of his, a normal name pronounced by her hold the ability to took away Manik's breathe and heartbeat. For a change, he shivered hardly on the soft mattress . She was in a state of fear, her sense stopped working but Manik he is definitely feeling different today. This closeness , she over him totally body to body contact just some layers of fabric are there but still the proximity is new. Something new for Manik Malhotra . Nandini pressed her soft hands tightly on his waist holding him tightly as much as she can. In fear, she is inhaling breathes fastly and exhailing them fastly, which is causing a rapid motion in her chest which Manik can feel against his chest. Feeling this motion against his body, he closed his eyes and hold Nandini more firmly by her waist. Manik was totally lsot in the moment and somewhere Nandini too but fear had overpower her and within few minutes she started sweating and Shivering . Her eyes are getting wet as tears fill in them. She is sobbing sliently and mummering something. Manik find his shirt is wet suddenly. He look at Nandini and called her few times...

M: Nandini.. Nandini.. hey... Nandini

N(whispering very slowly): I ...I ..ha..hate darkn..darkness

Manik try to break the hug, but she hold him more tightly and said..

N(mummering): do..dont ... please...don't ...don't go.. please

M: I am here only.. I am not going anywhere Nandini

N(sobbing): Ma..Manik...please... Ma..Manik... please take me away.... I ...I hate dark..darkness... Manik

Manik try to stand up with Nandini, he slowly made himself and Nandini stand . She was continuously blabbering some words and shivering badly. She hide herself totally in Manik. HE started to take her towards balcony, but both didn't lose their grip on eachother. HE tries to bring her in the balcony, but her words made him stop..

N(whispering in his ears): Take me away.. or else I will die.. me..me..maar jaugi... this ..th..this darkness is..is...suffo..suffocating ..

M(unbelievingly): Nandini.. ... hey..Nandini. calm down.. I am here na..with you .. calm down

N(sobbing +mummering ): I hate darkness.. take me away... Please Manik

In another second Manik hold her tightly and bring her in the balcony, and made her sit on the swing. HE cupped her face and trying to make a grip on her. In the dim light he can feel that she sweating badly, he cant see her eyes and face properly. He broke the hug and saw the intensity of her shivering. He get shocked to see her, after broking the hug also her eyes and closed, and her hold on Manik's waist is in very tight grip. HE hold her from her shoulder and shake her so that she can stop mummering and open her eyes...

M: Nandini.. Nandini.. look at me.... Nandini .. open your eyes.. see we are in moonlight .. look.. open your eyes Nandini

Nandini open her eyes slowly and look at him. Tears are still coming out of them, her mummering is stop but her shivering is not. Manik is in a state of great shock, he never saw someone's condition this much worst just coz of darkness.

N(shivering ): I..ha..hate da.da..darkness..

M: okay..ok.. calm down ..see we are in light ..moonlight. relax ...ok... just calm down

N: Ma..Manik.. da..darkness

M: Nandini.. Nandini.. everything is ok.. just relax

As Manik cupped her face, he find it all wet with tears and sweat. With his thumb he wipe the sweat. Manik tried hard to calm down Nandini but her shivering is not stopping, till 15-18minutes he tried . Then all of the sudden light came , and her shivering also stopped. Within a second she apart herself from Manik, she take her hands back and stand up from the swing . She started to wipe her sweat. Manik look her, the girl who is looking so fresh and beautiful half an hour before, is now looking like a tidy and devasted girl. There is no more freshness on her face, and her eyes they are deep and dark red they are just showing pain and fear. Manik was observing her every move, the sudden change in her body language. Manik observe that she is not shivering anymore, tears are dried on her cheeks. She rub her palms few time on her face to wipe off sweat and then comb her hairs with her fingers and make a bun of her hairs. She took some steps back and came back to her room. Without saying a word, she left to washroom. Manik look at her figure moving to washroom in confusion and shock. Within a minutes she changed herself, her behavior .

Manik came in the hall and wait for her with a glass of water. After 10minute she came to hall, and saw that Manik is sitting on sofa with a glass of water. Now she is looking different, different like nothing has happened. She clear her throat and sit on the opposite couch .

M(passing the glass): Ummm... water

Nandini took the water from his hand and drank it in one go.

N: thank u

M: its ..ok

M(hesitatingly): Nandini.. vo ..jo

N: please .. I request you .. don't ask me anything . its just I am scared of darkness a little more . I cant handle darkness it suffocates me .

She wanted to say something more but she is not finding a way to spill them. She wanted to apologize for what she did to him some minutes before, but she don't know how to say it..

N: ummm.. Manik... I am sorry ..for my misbehavior with you

M(in confusion): Misbehavior ???

N: I dig my nails in you.. and whatever the things which I do to you.. which I shouldn't do . I am sorry

M: no need of sorry.. I understand you are in a state of fear.

Nandini smile weakly on him .

N: umm.. shall we do the project work tomorrow ??

M: ya ..ok

Manik stand up and started to move, he open the door and came out.

M: Good night.. and take care of yourself

N: ya..good night

Manik came back to Malhotra Mansion and directly came to his room. HE quickly left for a shower, came back and lay down on his bed, thinking about what happened few hours back.
