“You should’ve thought twice before telling all sorts of stuff!”

“Oh, come on, it was just a split of the second thing!”

“Look where it has got itself into!’

“I am sorry, but I don’t know what to do, exactly! Well, we can think of some-”

“Varsha, don’t- don’t tell any other stupid plan now!’

“But Vidhyuth- Sam, what do you think?”

I wasn’t a part of this horrifying conversation for a totally understandable reason. Dust had infiltrated into my left eye and it was demanding all of my concentration. I blinked rapidly, trying to dislodge it, but unable to do so.

“Uh- I don’t- know…” I trialed off, blinking again.

“Are you all right? Oh my god, are you crying because of all this?”

“Of course not, I just have- something- in my eye” I rubbed it and was pleased to find that the irritation had gone away. “Yup, I am now all ears. So, what the hell?”

Varsha shot me an apologetic look. “The thing is, it just slipped out of my mouth and I didn’t really mean it, but the damage is done.”

“So what do I do now? Fake an illness or something?”

“Or you could just come” she offered.

“And do what?” Vidhyuth demanded.

“Just- well, be yourself, and I can- you know, make up stuff?’ she trailed off lamely.

In my 24 years of life on God’s green Earth, I had done a lot of acting. From legit ones like school plays to not-so-legit ones like getting a friend out of trouble, I had done ‘em all and done ‘em all with great results. But, even pretending to be closely associated with a person like the Grey eyed devil standing next to me gave me the creeps.

Or was this stage fear?

“But-”

“Can’t we just say you were lying?” Vidhyuth asked abruptly.

Now that’s a good option.

Varsha glared at him. “I don’t lie.”

“Oh, I believe you.” he muttered.

“Come on, I am the golden kid amongst our relatives. I am considered to be humanly incapable of lying. Would you want to put your sister through the humiliation she would face after being caught on a lie?’ she asked with the complete puppy dog look.

Do people even refuse to Varsha?

I got my answer when Vidhyuth signed in resignation, running his fingers through his hair. “Fine. What do you want?”

She grinned widely as her eyes looked over at the two of us. “Sameera?”

“Yeah?” I asked warily. I realized I had to be very, VERY cautious when it came to her. She was a charmer by tone itself.
