Chapter 1
People say when you wish upon a star your wish will be granted if its your heart's desire. Well, when Quinn wished for a family she got one and it was the best thing that ever happened to her.
It was August, and easily the hottest day of the year. Quinn was sitting on her bed in the orphanage, sweltering from the heat, she was reading the fairy tale; The Little Mermaid. How she longed for the soft sand under her feet, and the waves lapping against her ankles. She wished she was able to go to the beach, however she was not allowed to. Frankly, she thought it was very stuffy in the orphanage, and did not like it either.
Quinn was about twelve, she was healthy and had long brown hair a little lower than her shoulders, and had sparkling blue eyes. She has always longed for an adventure, and, well the only adventure she got was going upstairs to the older kids rooms. She prayed and prayed that she would get a family, but most of the time only the youngest kids got picked.
Chapter 2
When Quinn was almost through with her book she heard on the radio to her room "Quinn to the office, NOW!" said a loud booming voice. She knew it was Sister Angus for no other nun had the voice of a man, and she knew she had to get there quick or she would be put in the basement for the night. As Quinn rushed down the stairs to the main floor where the youngest of the orphans stayed, she dashed into the office out of breath and announced
"Sister Angus has called me here." Without looking up the secretary pointed into the direction of the closed door. As Quinn walked into the room she saw a young man and woman sitting at the desk. The women had long brown hair nearly reaching her hip, and gleaming green eyes, the young man had sparkling blue eyes and short blonde hair. They looked as if they had just come off the tropical sandy beaches.
"Quinn you have come to join us," then Sister Angus mumbled "finally. Anyways I have called you hear because Mr. And Mrs. Conch have decided to adopt you, they live in the Galapagos islands and on the beach.
Quinn thought to herself, they live on the beach!! Her wish came true only better, they live on the beach!
Sister Angus ended with "Quinn go pack up they're taking you home today."
Today?! She thought well they do live on the other side of the world I mean I live here in Kansas, so I've got nothing to lose!
As Quinn packed her bags there was a knock at the door, "Who is it?!" Quinn shouted
"It's me Sister Laura, I've been informed your moving to the Galapagos Islands."
"Yep, I finally get to go to the ocean!!" Quinn squealed.
"We'll we will miss you very much," Sister Laura said "and the girls will be devastated."
"I know, I know, but I really am super excited!" Quinn exclaimed.
"You'd best get going or you'll miss your ride." Sister Laura scurried out, she was one of the younger, and nicer nuns. She was nothing like Sister Angus.
As Quinn set out the front door all of the girls rushed to her sides,
"We heard you were leaving! To the whole other side of the world." They chorused
"Yes I am, and I will miss you lots, every single one of you!" She cried and hugged them all. She walked down the front steps, and got into the blue Chevy, she looked out the back window and all the girls were waving some crying.
"So, Uh how long is the plane ride?" Quinn asked, trying to spark a conversation.
"Well before I answer your question, my name is Jade and my husbands name is Todd. To answer your question we are not taking a plane we are swimming."
