Kaneki x Touka

Chapter one

Kaneki's POV

Walking past Anteiku, I hear the familiar door go and I'm suddenly restrained from walking Any further "Touka." I breath, knowing full well she's the one preventing me from leaving "Listen, I know I said that you should stay with them... But I didn't mean it!" She shouts, her voice cracking in obvious pain "I need to get stro-" I begin being cut off by a punch to the face "Shut up with the 'I need to get stronger' I don't care! Please... don't leave me for a second time!" She begins to tear up, her forearm pressed against my throat tightly "Please..." nodding I swallow a lump in my throat "okay... but I can't promise I won't be in and out..." I whisper feeling her nod.

"yeah, I'd like to start working again?" I ask, sitting across from the manager, Yoshimura "you'll have to dye the hair." He points out my ice white hair, nodding I swallow a lump in my throat "Of course..." I mumble.

After washing the silvery grey hair dye into my hair I let it dry naturally whilst sitting in the staff room at Anteiku, closing my eyes I lean back and sigh 'I never thought I'd end up back here... after being tortured and stolen by Jason coming here would bring those memories back. I need to be stronger. I need to be able to protect everyone here, I need to be able to protect Touka...' being so lost in thought I hadn't realised that Touka was trying to speak to me "Kaneki!" She shouts shaking my head I look at her "What's up?" I ask, my face expressionless as always "I came to give you your uniform... and to see how you was" she hesitates at the last part,'placing the uniform down beside me "well, it feels weird being back." I scratch the back of my head, shrugging my shoulders I look her in the eye "And I still have no place to stay, I might as well just sleep here" I mumble, her eyebrow raising "ever take into account that I live here?" She sighs, looking at her with my own brow raised "you'd let me crash at your place?" I ask, astonished by the fact she isn't chasing me around with a knife "Sure what's the worst that could happen" she chuckles lightly 'she's so much more happier...' feeling the corner of my lips curl I catch myself and shake my head.

Brewing a fresh cup of coffee for a customers I feel someone's eyes on me, turning around I see a red haired girl staring at me, coughing into my shoulder Touka notices "Roma, stop staring." She snarls, the red head shaking her head rapidly, delivering the coffee over to the customers, I smile at the child that's bouncing around happily, again feeling a pair of eyes on me I'm shocked to find its Touka this time, pretending that she was staring out the window rather than at myself.

Finishing up the shift early due to the lack of customers we decide to close at around 6:00-7:00pm, and I'm currently following Touka up to her room, greeted by the bright light I smile at the same looking apartment from right when I first met her. Sitting down at the small table on the comfy pillows she sits across from me "Where will I be staying?" I raise an eyebrow, her purple eyes flashing slightly "uhm... hinami has the spare room.." she mumbles, nodding I smile slightly "Its okay, I'll sleep on your bedroom floor, I'm sure it's not so bad" I chuckle, standing, I look down to her "I'm gonna go get changed, it'd suck to be wearing this uniform any longer." I say walking towards the bathroom.

Changing into a long black shirt and black shorts I stretch slightly the small of my back cracking along with my shoulders and neck "you done?" A knock at the door says loudly, opening it I look down to the smaller female "Yeah" I smile, slipping past her I welcome myself into her room.
Whilst waiting for her to change I look at her study, my eyebrow arched slightly "same university?" I mumble to myself, looking around the room, pictures of rabbits and things hinami had drawn for her my eyes settle on a picture of me and her just before I had been taken by Jason, smiling I walk towards it 'Things could have turned out differently, if I hadn't been taken I would've still been at Anteiku, and I wouldn't have had to put Touka through all of this, but risks had to be taken...' shaking the thoughts from my head when the door clicks open, Touka walks in wearing shorts and a large plain t-shirt "Uh... that picture was placed there by hinami, I.. didn't put it there... not directly in front of my bed see my room was different" she stammers obviously lying, laughing I didn't even take in the fact the picture is placed on the wall directly in front of her bed "I didn't even realise" I chuckle, her eyes widening "Screw you." She furrows her brows "ah, so defensive" I wipe tears from my eyes hugging her tightly "are you sure the floor will be comfy?" She asks pulling away from the hug "Wouldn't it just be easier to invite me into bed?" I tease her face turning right red, she hits me in the chest "I take that as a yes." I breath, pushing her into her bed I climb next to her and pull her it o my chest, feeling her melt into my form she falls asleep before me.

Staring at her I can't help but smile, my lidded eyes falling shut by the second 'I'm glad she asked me to stay...'
