I stared at the moon. I wanted to howl so badly.
"Lilac what are you doing?"
"Hmmm."
I said staring at my older brother Clyde.
He rolls his dark brown eyes and starts the fire with the crack of a match.
"It's a MATCH made in heaven."
I snort. He rolls his eyes again.
"Find some wood, please."
He says with a frown. He hates my jokes.
"You guys got the fire going?"
Mom yells through the kitchen window.
"Yes."
Clyde yells back.
I smirk and walk into the woods to find the wood.
I go deeper and deeper into the darkness. It's not scary, I've been here a million times at night. Plus my house is at the edge of the woods so yeah. Oh God I'm rambling. Okay I'm going to tell the truth, IT'S SCARY! I start grabbing pieces of wood.
"Cruuunch."
I spin around no ones there.
"Very funny Clyde."
I say with a chuckle. Another crack rings my eardrums. Oh shit. It's probably just a bear. My lower lip trembles. JUST A BEAR! What am I telling myself? Should I run? Nah that's stupid.
"Hello."
I whisper.
No one. Wow this is scary. I grab wood faster and faster. Then I hear another crunch closer. A breath. I spin around and scream.
"Woah chill girl."
Says a guy holding out his hands.
"Chill? You scared the hell outta me strange dude."
The guy smirked. I blushed which made him grin. He had black hair and light blue, almost white eyes. He was lean but very muscular. He wore a black sweater and a pair of navy blue pants. He wore black combat boots that looked very clumpy and awful to walk in.
"My name isn't strange dude, it's Max, now who are you strange girl?"
