The wind softly drifted through her open bedroom window , making the hot and humid room actually bearable for once in her life.
She remembers herself in this room years ago, sitting on the rug beside her bed, scribbling on construction paper with worn down crayons and markers, drawings that surely would be hung on the fridge.
The room hadn't changed that much, her bed was still in the corner closest to the window, and the bookcase covered the marker on the wall across from her.
The play kitchen set had been replaced with a desk, which she was currently hunched over, working on a final that she had promised her teacher would be on time.
It never was.
She let out a sigh and laid her head down on the desk. The pounding headache that she had accumulated over the last couple of hours couldn't be ignored anymore, but at least the trip to get Advil gave her an excuse to get up.
She stretched and looked around her dimly lit room. Her bed was still made from the previous morning, although it looked like the cat had rolled around on the comforter.
The rest of the room quickly warped, slowly starting to spin, making her dizzy.
She grabbed the chair beside her and waited until the dizziness passed, then made her way down the hall and into the bathroom.
The harsh light burned her eyes and caused her head to feel as if it were exploding.
She quickly took two Advil out of the medecine cabinet and took them quickly. The sooner that she got rid of the headache, the sooner that she could finish her paper and go to bed.
Her eyes drifted as she walked back down the hall.
Her mom's room was quiet except for quiet snores from the cat every now and then. She wouldn't be home until at least 4, working nights was the only way to be full time. It sucked, but it kept them with a roof over their heads and food on the table.
She shut off her lamp and got into bed, blaming the dizziness on lack of sleep.
The room slowly started to fade as she fell deeper and deeper into sleep, her mind flooding with thoughts and dreams that she was too tired to pay any attention to.

"Emily!" Her mother yelled up the stairs at her.
She groaned and sat up in bed, her headache gone, but still extremely tired.
"Emily!" She shouted again, this time coming to the landing at the bottom of the stairs.
"Coming." She replied through the mess of sheets and comforters.
She threw the blankets off of herself and sat on the edge of her bed, adjusting to the morning light.
The clock on the corner of her desk read 12:15pm, meaning she had slept through all of her alarms.
She quickly got dressed and shoved whatever peices of her final she had off of her desk and shoved them in her bag.
Her mother was waiting at the bottom of the stairs, sat at the table with a cup of tea and a book.
"Where are you going?" She asked as Emily ran to the mudroom to grab her shoes.
"School?" She replied, tying up her converse and running to the front door.
"Hold your horses there kiddo," Her mother yelled after her.
"I'm not sure if you've realized, but it's currently Saturday, and it's the long weekend."
Emily stopped and stared at her shoes, clearly embarrassed.
She closed the door and tossed her bag on the ground.
"I'm hoping back to bed." She stated climbing the stairs back to her room.
"Not so fast," called her mother
"You need to wash the dishes that you left in the sink from whatever you made last night."
She groaned and turned Around, this isn't how she imagined her morning would start.
