//Hope you guys like it! Highly suggest listening to the song throughout to really give you some feels//

"Ethan?"

I called his name as I let myself into our shared apartment. We're roommates and best friends, and we always hang out together. We usually called the other one's name to make sure they didn't have a "special guest" over. People started questioning if we were together yet. Especially his fans. Many of them were jealous of the relationship we had, even though we're only friends, and of the fact that he was now occupied with me, meaning none of their fantasies could come true. Little did they know that I wanted to be with him, but it would ruin everything we had built up to this point. So I just stayed quiet and let him do his thing.

With no answer from him, I absent-mindedly start cooking. I get out a pan, light the stove, and fill it with different frozen vegetables. Carrots, broccoli, green beans, baby corn, and others pour into the pan as the steam billows up and into my face. I grab some teriyaki sauce and a lid, and put those on to simmer. I throw my earbuds in and put my phone in the waistband of my leggings as I grab some leftover chicken teriyaki we cooked the other night. I get another pan and set that one on the counter, grabbing a knife to cut the chicken. I start cutting a couple pieces, and one of my favorite songs comes through my ears; "From the Ground Up" by Dan & Shay. I usually don't listen to country that much, but this was one of the few songs I was in love with. Thinking no one was home, I started belting the words:

Grandma and grandpa painted a picture of 65 years and one little house. More than a memory, more than sayin' "I do", kiss you goodnight's and "I love you"s.

Me and you baby, walk in the footsteps, build our own family one day at a time. Ten little toes, a painted pink room, our beautiful baby looks just like you.

I finish cutting the chicken and putting it into the pan and walk it over to the stove. Just as I light the stove, I feel a pair of strong arms wrap around my waist and squeeze. I felt his shaggy hair against my ear and his stubble on my shoulder as he kisses my collarbone.

"Ethan, what are you doing?"

I giggle as he spins me around to face him, the blue piece of hair hanging down in front of his eye. I push it up with the rest of his hair, as he reaches to take my other earbud out. He grabbed his phone out of his pocket and tapped his screen a couple times. All of a sudden, the song I was listening to came blasting through the speakers we had hooked up when we first moved in. I look at him in disbelief as he takes my hand and leads me out into the living room.

"Dance with me, Y/N!"

He leaves me at the edge of the room and goes in the center of the rug, and starts singing while looking me in the eyes.

And we'll build this love from the ground up, now till forever. It's all of me, all of you, just take my hand, and I'll be the man your dad hoped that I'd be. We'll build this love from the ground up, for worse or for better, and I will be all you need, beside you I'll stand through the good and the bad, we'll give all that we have and we'll build this love...

"From the ground up," I sang with him. He came and grabbed my hand and leads me back to where he was just standing. He pulls me closer to him, his arms wrap back around my waist as mine go around his neck. He sways us in a circle slowly as we sing together.

This life will go by in the blink of an eye, but I wouldn't wanna spend it without you by my side. The cloud are gonna roll, the earth's gonna shake, but I'll be your shelter through the wind and the rain.

We sing the chorus together, as he spins me around and properly dances with me. He waltzes us into the kitchen so I could turn off our dinner and not burn the place down, us occasionally laughing at the moment we were in. It gets to the bridge of the song, and it gets quiet as Ethan lets me sing solo.

Someday we'll wake up with thousands of pictures, sixty-five years in this little house. I won't trade for nothing, the life that we built, I'll kiss you goodnight and say I love you still.

Ethan turns down the volume a little bit as he lifts me up, and wraps my legs around his waist. I bury my head in the crook of his neck as he sings softly to me, swaying us back and forth in the middle of the living room.

And we'll build this love from the ground up, for worse or for better, and I will be all you need, beside you I'll stand through the good and the bad we'll give all that we have. And we'll build this love from the ground up... from the ground up.

The music slowly fades out as he squeezes me and stops swaying.

"Y/N?"

"Yes, Ethan?"

I smile into his shoulder so he can't see the blush creeping up on my cheeks. I know what's coming. It's the phrase I've been anticipating for too long.

"Will you help me build this love?"

I pick my head up to look him in the eyes. His gorgeous, hazel eyes.

"From the ground up, E."

We both smile as he smashes his lips on mine, sealing the deal and making my dreams come true.

Okay please listen to the song while reading, it is an experience unlike any other. Also, while looking for pics for this, I saw one that was an edit and he had BLUE EYES. I died a little bit inside and almost licked my screen. It's weird to think they're younger than me (not by that much but still). Hope you guys liked this, I'm not exactly sure why I started another "book" since I don't update the 2 I have, but it's fine :)))))))
