Prologue
Every person is a mystery. Every person has their very own story to tell, and each day we walk past these people, walk past these stories, and we don’t even bother to wonder what pain that person might be feeling. Does this make us inhumane?
I guess that’s why I am here. I’m here to tell you a story, my story. And it’s going to be long, it’s going to be painful, and you may cry. I might cry. There will be heartbreak, love, and a dash of recklessness.
I guess I should introduce myself, shouldn’t I? My name is Rose Marie Walker. Yes, my name is really Rose. I hate it. Everyone always expects me to be this sweet, innocent, girly-girl. Which I’m not.
That’s one of the things I hate. Expectations. Why should you automatically assume something from someone you don’t even know? Now, if you knew this person, then go ahead, have all the fucking expectations you want, like I give a shit.
Sorry, I cuss a lot.
Back to the point here.
There’s someone who never had any expectations for me, and I had no expectations for him, because he was the first person to understand why I didn’t like expectations. He blew me away, and each day he amazes me. But I can’t go into detail about that yet. I have to start this story properly, from the beginning.
I guess it started out like you’d expect. On the first day of summer break.
