Valentine's Day was finally here and you were a nervous wreck. Although you'd bought a great gift for him, this was the last day you were receiving letters and it had to be perfect; You couldn't let Suwa down. You took a deep breath and made your way outside. It was chilly and the clouds were covering the sky. The trees had long lost their leaves and were decorated with icicles. Fog escaped your lips as you headed towards your mailbox where Suwa was already waiting for you, a smile plastered on his face, "Hello Valentine!" The tall jock winked at you and your face began to feel hot. He leaned towards you while pulling something from behind him, "I got you some hot chocolate." You let out a light gasp in surprise as he handed you the cup, your fingertips getting warmer by the touch. Frozen stiff you blushed, lightly smiling softly at the warm gesture, "Th-thank you, Suwa." He blushed lightly laughing at himself, "I'm sorry, I didn't know what to get you for Valentine's Day. I feel so bad that hot chocolate is your gift from me." You giggled, smiling as you pulled his gift from behind you, "Well maybe this will cheer you up." The gentle giant stood in front of you surprised, "Y-you got me a gift?" Nodding proudly you admitted it, handing him the gift. "Yeah, I noticed you eyeing this while we were out one day and I got it for you." The wrapping revealed a navy blue sports bag, just like the one he saw in the window. Suwa stared at the gift in awe as he tried to protest, "You didn't have to get me anything..." Smiling brightly, you were relieved he seemed to like it, "Of course, I did. You're my Valentine, after all." He looked up at you, tears building up with emotion, "Th-thank you, (Y/N)." Standing there stiff, you remembered what you read in the letter for today,
This wasn't in the letter. It's never been wrong this early, what's going on?
Suwa snapped you back into reality, "(Y/N), you okay?" You quickly nodded in assurance as he leaned in to get a better look at you, "You're hiding something." You could feel the warmth coming off of him as you stood there still in his gaze, "I...uh." You could feel your ears getting hot when a familiar voice broke your concentration, "Hey, wait up!"
Ahead, you saw a frantic Kakeru running up to both of you. Suwa greeted him with a cheerful smile, "Hey Kakeru! You're up early." Kakeru caught his breath, "Yeah, haha. What's up guys?" Suwa stretched before following Kakeru on the way to school, "Nothing much, just talking. You?" Kakeru gave (Y/N) a knowing look, "Ah, nothing. Just wanted to make sure today goes smoothly." He winked at you and you turned your attention to Suwa in fear that he saw it; He did. The friendly giant seemed to deflate as his expression morphed into a mixture of happiness and sorrow, and he lowered his head in defeat, "Yeah, right." You stared at him as he stopped walking, speechless as what to say next, "Suwa, I..." He noticed your concern and immediately changed his expressio to a bright smile, "Hey what's with that look? Am I being a good Valentine for you?" You awkwardly protest, blushing as you waved your arms at him. "No no, it's nothing like that! You're a wonderful valentine! It's just-" Kakeru interrupted your conversation with a far off shout, "Hey lovebirds! We're gonna be late, c'mon!" Suwa's cheeks grew a little red after Kakeru said that, and you noticed. "Here," you extended your hand to him with a warm smile, "Let's go." He shyly took your hand, a smile sneaking in at the feeling, "Yeah."
After Suwa's soccer practice ended, you both headed back home for the day, holding hands on the way their. Suwa was visibly worn out from practice, but acted as energetic as ever telling you about his day, "So there's something I wanted to ask you..." His cheeks grew a new shade of pink as he paused, looking for the right words, "There's a Valentine Event going on in town tonight and i'd like to, would you like to?..." A warm smile came across your face as you watched him struggle to find the words, "Yes." He stopped walking, looking at you surprised by your sudden response, "Yes?" A bright smile began to form on Suwa's face as you nodded, "Really?" His eyes had a gleam to them as he leaned in to reassure himself he heard you right. Red covered your cheeks as you nodded, noticing how close he was, "Mmhm." He jumped with glee, cheering so the world could hear him, "Yes!" He leaned in, planting a light kiss on your forehead while pushing your hair gently behind your ear, "Thank you." You froze, taking in what he said as he waved goodbye to you with a bright smile, "See you in an hour!" He chipperly ran down the route to his house, you watched him leave, smiling as he seemed to be excited.
None of the events today were mentioned in the letters. Have you changed history that much? Did you even need the letters if today was going well without them?
You arrived home and went straight to your room, preparing for your night with Suwa, when your mother opened the door, "You alright (Y/N)? Oh, what a cute outfit! Are you going somewhere tonight?" You nodded, smiling at the thought, "Yes, but I wont be back too late, I promise." Your mom gave you a knowing smile, "Oh! Are you going to the Valentine's Celebration tonight with Suwa?" You blushed immensely as you shyly responded, "Y-yes..." She nodded, smiling brightly as she started to shut the door, "Well have fun and bundle up. The weather says it might snow tonight."
You waited for him until the time the event had already started, "Oh no, I'm gonna be late." You shout for you mom as you run out of the door, "I'm heading out now!" You heard no response from your mother, but decided to leave anyway; Maybe he was there already. A few minutes later, Suwa arrived at your house and rang the doorbell. Your mother answered the door shortly after, "Oh, hi Suwa! You're here to pick up (Y/N)?" He replied out of breath, "Yeah, we're running a little late. Is she still here?" Your mom thought about it, "I think she's still here. She didn't tell me she was leaving yet." Suwa sighed in relief, "Oh, okay." Your mother smiled, motioning him to the stairs, "You can go up to her room and let her know you're here if you want." He nodded politely, "Thank you, I won't be long." He made his way to your room and the lights were off except for a lamp on your desk. He sighed, realizing that he missed you when he noticed some papers on your desk. Walking up to them, he realized that they were letters and began examining them. A letter fell on the floor beside him as he turned around, slowly making his way out of your room. Your mother noticed Suwa heading out of the door alone, "Hey, Suwa. Did you find (Y/N)?" He shut the door behind him, head down and silent as he left your house. Snow began to fall as he walked aimlessly in the cold, alone.
