We had to wake up at 6:00 in the morning to sneak into the office and alter the schedules. Long story short, no one has class in the science lab today---not anymore, at least.
Then, we went down to that black metal door in the basement and I picked the padlock on the bar, lifting it and opening the door.
Now, we stand in the musty old storage room behind that door, searching the shelves along the wall. There's some pretty old stuff in here; I saw a boxy TV, a VCR, some of those big black rectangular tapes.
I lift the lid on a cardboard box near the back of the room, a cloud of dust puffing up to coat my eyeballs. I drop the lid, rubbing furiously at them with my hands. I hear Wilson laughing behind me. I remove my hands to glare at him, and he laughs harder.
"What?" I ask, putting my hands on my hips.
"You look high." Wilson chuckles. My eyes must be bloodshot now.
"Thanks." I grumble before turning back to the box. Inside of it is a bunch of chemicals, beakers, stir rods, and sliders. "Jackpot!" I yell over my shoulder. Wilson appears beside me and peers into the box at the items.
"Nice! Let's bring some of these up to the lab." he says, grabbing a handful of vials. I take some, too, and head out of the storage room. Shutting the door behind us, I lead the way back upstairs.

"Okay. All of the blue and all of the red." I say as Wilson reaches for the rack of vials. He mixes the purple concoction in a beaker, and it begins to fizz as mist curls up from the surface.
"Wait." Wilson slaps a hand over the top of the beaker. "I wanna say goodbye to Willnia first."
"It's only seven thirty in the morning. She won't be here for another hour." I point out.
"Then get something heavy and put it over the beaker to keep the smoke inside until Lunch. We can leave then."
I pause, considering for a moment, before finally complying. I grab a book from a cabinet and place it over the opening of the beaker. "Fine. But remember. You cannot take her with us. It's too dangerous." I warn.
"I know, I know." Wilson says disappointedly.
"We should get ready now." I say.
"Yeah."

We grab clothes from the Drama Lounge, as we've been doing, and change in the bathroom. Then we hunt down a stray packet of gum in a teacher's desk and take a few pieces, since we can't brush our teeth. Finally, we sneak to our lockers and hide.
It's hard to fit in my locker; there's so much clutter in here, true to the one in my dimension. Ken would be mortified to find me in here. Confused, too.
Finally, it's time to get out. We act casual as we slip out of the lockers, smiling at the few people around us.
Down the hall, Ken and Kylie lean against a wall, talking and laughing. They're sharing earbuds.
I can't wait to see Kyle again.

"Do questions one through ten in the textbook." Mr. Godreau instructs in Math class.
"Why must he do this to us? He might be worse than Mme Godreau, and they're the same person!" I groan as I flip open the textbook. Wilson laughs.
"At least you'll have the answers when we do this in our dimension." he points out.
"I guess." I say. "So, what're you gonna say to Willnia at Lunch? How will you explain your eternal absence?"
"I don't know. I might just tell her everything."
"That might not be safe."
"She's me. She can keep a secret."
I shrug and write the answer to the second textbook question. "If you say so."
"It's too bad she can't come with us."
"Remember what I said earlier? It's too dangerous, Wilson."
"You're right. But still." Wilson's pencil scratches the paper. "I'll miss her."
