Though the sun was still setting, the thick light grey clouds blocked out all traces of the sun. As the trees around swayed in the cold winter breeze, Leah was thankful for her powers giving her a higher body heat than a human. Someone rustled behind her, and Leah rolled her eyes and breathed a quiet sigh. When Jacob 'invited' the Cullen's, it made the whole pack want to come along. She was sure that later everyone would gossip about it like old women in a knitting group. This confrontation only needed Officer Swan, and then a few pack members and a couple Cullen's. Bella and Edward were the ones to come so the only others needed were Jacob and herself. So when Jacob presented their plan, and everyone protested, he let them tag along. Of course, they were told to stay well away, and no phasing was allowed with Officer Swan around.
Well, at least when the Uley pack and Jacobs pack combined, she remained Betta. Leah had been almost sure that she would move back down in ranks. She smiled and leaned back on a cedar tree. It was nice to be able to make things happen. Leah didn't care that she didn't have the final say in matters, she was just happy to finally be recognized as something other than a mistake, someone who didn't belong. A fire flickered to life in front of her, and Leah stood up straight and took a step forward. This was it, as soon as the two men sit down they would move in.
The men began scraping up a meal. Canned food was opened and heated over the fire, before being poured onto plates. As soon as their butts touched the ground and they took their first bite of their canned beans, Jacob and Officer Swan stepped out into the clearing lit by the fires orange glow. That signaled Edward, Bella, and Leah to step out as well, making a half circle in front of the dirty trailer that may have once actually been white.
The men were as startled as a deer caught in headlights. The man with brown hair seemed to quickly assess the situation, before putting on a large smile. "May we help you, Officer?"
Officer Swan inclined his head as a form of greeting. "Yes. Right now you are trespassing on a reservation. There has been an official complaint made for your trespassing, so if-"
A thumping noise coming from the trailer interrupted him. Officer Swan glanced at Jacob, then back at the men. The blonde began nervously picking his plate of food. Leah could smell the fear rolling of him. The other man kept his cool and just smiled, but a vein on his forehead betrayed him.
"Our companion must have dropped something, he's sick so he was eating in there." Two small thumps came in response. Leah quietly circled around the men so she was between them and the trailer. Bella and Edward spread out as well.
"May I see your companion?" Officer swan asked stepping forward.
The men stood, and the brown haired mans vein popped out further while a bead of sweat rolled down his neck. "Our friend is very sick, we wouldn't want you to catch anything."
Officer Swan smiled wanly. "I'm going to need to see inside." He stepped forward and the blonde man reached a trembling hand inside his jacket. Officer Swan quickly pulled out his gun just as the blonde did. The brown haired man drew his gun and sighed. "This was supposed to be our last resort Louis." He said in a honey soft voice.
Bella, Edward, and Jacob immediately stepped forward to protect the human. Leah rolled her eyes in irritation, seriously why were they all so friggin' worried about someone who can take care of himself. But Leah leaned forward in a more defensive crouch.
"You probably should point your gun at a more dire threat, blondee." The men whirled at her voice. She could have laughed at the fact that they were so surprised to have her behind them.
"Put your guns down and come peacefully." Hearing Officer Swan, the brown haired man pointed his gun back towards him while the blonde, Louis, kept his gun trained on Leah. She stepped towards him.
"Lady, one more step, and I'll shoot." His arms trembled more as his fingers tightened on the gun.
Leah's eyes narrowed and she smiled taking a taunting step forward.
"I swear to God I'll shoot..." His southern accented voice trembled as much as his arms. Leah's smile grew and she knew she had this in the bag. She stepped forward again, expecting him to finally drop his gun in fear.
"Goddammit Louis fucking shoot already!" The brown haired man had turned, to see how close Leah had come. Much to Leah's surprise, Louise did shoot.
