A story by Miles Ticker (Not real) Written by Shane Ross (Real)
Maya :
I'm laughing at my little brother Miles attempts to get a foothold below me, kicking dirt hundreds of feet below. I'm a much faster climber than he is. Our dad's jack and Chris are above holding the ropes and restraints assuring we don't fall. We call Jack "Dad" and Chris "Pap" as to not get them confused. Pap is currently holding my rope. Now comes a bird. It is a large eagle. I can see it's piercing eyes staring right through me. It looks as if it has a purpose. If that bird never came, I never would have fallen, never would have gone on the crazy adventure I did. The bird flew directly at paps head, causing him to swat it and let go of the rope. I saw this happen, and what felt like minutes later I started to plummet to below me. I was about to hit a jagged rock, but no. I hit a patch of dirt and slide down into a hole. Miles screams and unbuckles his buckle, which is only like 5 feet above the hole. He dives in after me. I can hear our fathers shouts of confusion as we slide down what seems like a dug out hole. By what, I think. We land in a black pit. We can hear water rushing all around us. It's as if the world has stopped. Everything happened so fast. I can feel my heart beating. Ba-bump. Ba-bump. But as a light seems t appear, I can no longer hear it. I think I might just be getting distracted, but no. I check my pulse. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I can feel my breaths getting heavy. "I'm dying." I think out loud. I hear a shuffling. I can feel my self-filling with pain. But then I realized that's just because I got banged up on the way down. I stare at a faint light blue glow in the darkness, and then a voice comes from it. It's my brothers. "Maya, that you?" he whispers. "Yea" "Why are you green?" "What?" I look down, and from my chest, green light is radiating. Not just from anything though, from my heart. But it's not the organ, the blood pumping kind. No, it's the one you find in little girls drawings that represents love. I'm thirteen, and my brothers nine, we don't need girly hearts. Then, another blue glow appears. "Welcome to waterfall humans," says a low, cartoony voice. "Excuse me, humans?" I ask. Suddenly a light turns on and I see a skeleton with a glowing left eye right in front of me. My brother is suddenly on the floor, dead like. "WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM" I almost screech. "He fainted as soon as he saw me, you could even say he didn't have the guts for a skeleton like myself. "Seriously? Ok no that's the point"I say. "Where am I, how did I get here, who are you, what are you, are there more of you, and are you going to hurt me?" "Questions can be answered later, just follow me." "And why should I trust you?" I ask. "Who else you gonna trust, that hole in the ceiling is 20 feet up, and we don't have a ladder at the moment human, besides, whats your name?" "Maya, yours?" "Sans, ice to meet you" And suddenly I realize we are standing in a cave with water on the floor and icicles coming from the ceiling. "I'll take your human friend, come on let's go" "He's my brother, and his name is Miles" "A brother? I've got one of those, but you can't let him see you." "Why wo-" "Questions later, remember." And so I went off with Sans. That was the start of something unimaginable, all because of a silly bird. And so he picked Miles up and let me off into the darkness.
