Michael's POV

I've lived all my life in silence, from the time I was born to today. It's been hard but then again it's all I've ever known. I just feel bad for Jeremy, we've been together since high school, and I've never been able to have a real conversation with him. Yeah he knows ASL fluently and I can read lips, it just bugs me that I can't hear his voice. I've been saving for a cochlear implant for five years now, and I'm so close I'm just 1,000 dollars way from hearing his voice. I was pulled out of my thoughts by Jeremy tapping on my shoulder.

"I have a surprise for you Michael" he signed "I been saving to help you get the cochlear, and I was able to gather the last 20 dollars this past month" he handed me the money.

"What? Jeremy you didn't have to do that" I signed back, in shock.

"But I wanted to, you've been looking forward to hearing so much. I just wanted to speed up the paste"

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Was all I could sign.

"You're appointment is Tuesday" he signed. I hugged him as tight as I could and cried tears of joy.

I was nervous about the surgery, but excited to get to hear. The car ride was long, which left me with my thoughts that made me more nervous. I guess Jeremy noticed and grabbed my hand, making me feel better. We soon got to the place and next thing I know I was being put under for the surgery.

It been a week since the surgery and now I'm getting the cochlear turned on. I'm finally going to get to hear. We get to the room and a blond hair lady explained that it will start out quiet but get louder. Then I started to hear noise.

"Michael, can you hear me?" Jeremy asked. I nodded yes, his voice is better then I ever imagined. I feel tears of joy fall from my face.

"Good because I've been wanting to ask you this for so long, Michael will you marry me?" He asked getting down on one knee pulling out a silver ring with a blue sapphire.

"Yes" I signed to him not exactly knowing how to speak. I hugged him tight.

"Michael I love you" he said.

"I love you too" I said back, it sounded weird but he understand.
