Chapter 27

With my gun, I run to the train tracks, waiting for a train to arrive. Constantly, I glance around, looking for any Dauntless soldiers, my hand clenched tightly to my gun.

After ten minutes, I hear a train's horn blare. When it comes closer, I start to run, and finally, jump. I crawl into the train, and start to make my plan on how to rescue Tris. All I can come up with is to kill anyone in my way to get her.

In the silence, I can't help but think about how it will be to see her again. I'd wrap my arms around her, and she'd lie in my chest. When I save her, I will never let her go again.

After what seems like hours, the train arrives at Erudite. I wait for the right time to jump, and when I see the chance, I take it. As my feet leave the train, time freezes, and I'm stuck in midair. This would remind Tris of a bird, a voice in my head tells me. When I land, I try not to think about Tris because I can't get distracted; however, this is impossible.

While I walk, I spot the entrance that would most likely lead to her. With my back to the wall, I slowly move through the compound, careful not to draw any attention to me. I cannot take the risk of dying, not after I came all this way.

Turning a corner, I see a guard, who instantly fires at me. As I fall to the ground, the bullet hits my arm, but I don't notice. When I hit the ground, I roll, and shoot back. The guard slumps to the floor instantly, due to my fatal shot to his head.

I don't run into any other guards while trying to find where she is. This place is a maze; once you think you've figured it out, you hit a dead end.

After searching for hours, I hear a loud, high pitched scream. But it's not just anyone's scream, it's Tris's scream. Racing through the hallways, I follow it. Every few steps I take, her screams get louder, and more clear. Whoever did this to her is going to regret it.

I find a door, and her screams come from inside of it. As I pull the handle, I have no idea of what I should expect.
