"I want people to remember me as someone who worked hard to leave the world a little better than I found it," - Danielle Gletow. Danielle Gletow is the founder of One Simple Wish, she started it knowing how important it was for children in foster care to have some normalcy in their lives. Danielle is a modern day hero, she has helped grant over 12,500 wished for the kids in foster care.
In 2008, Danielle started One Simple Wish, while she was fostering a child with her husband. Using her marketing background Danielle started one simple wish, which has been successful in it's purpose. Each of the wishes usually cost between $50 to $100, and range from asking for a musical instrument to horseback riding lessons, the wishes can be anything the child wants. To get these wishes known and granted social service providers post the kids wishes on the One Simple Wish website, anyone who who goes onto the website can then look through them and find one which speaks to them and fits their budget. Along with helping kids get their wishes, Danielle provides items that help ease kids into their new foster homes. In September of 2016 Danielle was named the 43rd New Jersey Hero.
Danielle Gletow is a modern day hero. Three reasons to support this claim are, for starters, is that she started One Simple Wish so some of the less fortunate kids , who move from one foster home to another, can do things as well as get things that they want, which they most likely would not have if not for her. A second reason is over 12,500 wishes have been granted, that means at least $625,00 has been spent to help those kids get things they want but also what they need, things like clothes, food and items for school. The third reason is that what she has done may have helped those children make memorable experiences, that will last their whole life, and their wish being granted makes their day.
