Red. Everything's red. Adjusting to the surrounding, she could just make out the silhouette of her room. Her desk and the chair accompanying it, her wardrobe, her own bed, everything. But why is it red? She stood up and walked out, towards the cold wooden floorboards of her hallway. She could hear someone snoring loudly at the end of the hallway. Mom. The snore echoed through the daunting red hallway, disappearing just as it passed her ears, as if it was only meant for her to be heard. Weird, she thought. Her mom snores was never this loud, yet her feet walked her there on instinct. She wanted to know why her vision was red and her best bet is to ask her mom.

A chill ran down her spine as she put her hands on the doorknob. Twisting it, she was met with a girl, sitting on the bed, where her mom should be. Her hair was covering her face, something right out of a horror movie. Her mom was nowhere to be found, a recording tape the girl was holding in one hand proved to be the source of the loud snores. Her other hand was holding a knife. Suddenly, her snoring voice stops. Few seconds passed by and the recording tape didn't utter another sound. She was getting ready to turn back out of the room, when a bloodcurdling scream ripped through the tape in the loudest voice she had ever heard and she could feel her ears starting to break. But there was another sound. Faintly heard from all the screaming, the girl was laughing maniacally. And she soon woke up with sweat all over her.

The laugh rings in Kyle's ear as she walked to school. It has just been two weeks since she moved to Ecrin, a small town in the suburb of UK. The previous owner, a grandma living in her last days, died last month. Her children decided to put the house on sell, for a reasonable price mom was interested in. Since Kyle's mom and dad got a divorce, mom was looking for another house for her and Kyle to live in, since the previous house was her dad's. Dad wad kind enough to let us stay there while mom was looking for it. She immediately bought this house, for how big the house is in for the price given. For Kyle, it screams horror.

Given the age of the house, it was not a surprise when she heard the sound of feet running around, the scraping of chairs and things falling on its own. She was used to it by now, since it usually happened every night. Nothing to extreme had happened though, no sightings of ghost flying around, no sense of feeling touched, not even any sign of a ghost manifesting itself. Until last night. That was the first time Kyle had a nightmare. It could just be a one of a time nightmare, or it could be the sign of a ghost or two starting to mess with her. If a ghost was trying to mess with her, it could most likely be the girl in her dream. She probably wants her out of the house and she really would like to comply. Unfortunately, she couldn't.

The feeling of dread washed over her as she turned around the corner towards the street her house was in. The creaking sound the front door made justifies how old the house is. Going up the stairs, she paused to look at the hallway. At the end of it was her mother's room, obviously empty since she was at work.

Figments of the nightmare is still daunting her at this very moment, and she chose not to find out whatever thing was inhabiting that room. She made herself comfortable on her bed and started surfing through the internet. Hours passed as her stomach rumbles got louder. She was ready to turn her doorknob when she could hear a faint sound on the opposite of the door. Her hands turn cold as she realized it was coming from down the hall. Her mom's room. Building up enough courage, she turned the doorknob and was met with the cold floorboards.

She was expecting to find someone-or something, waiting for her there, ready to leap on her. She didn't know wether to feel relieved or terrified when there was nothing, but to hear a snore sound coming from her mother's room. Pinching herself to make sure it wasn't a dream, she could feel her heartbeat beating like crazy and felt it was ready to explode right hear, right now. Her brain was debating with itself, wether to be a brave person and march into that room, or be safe and run far, far away. She shouts for her mom and was answered with silence. And then she ran. Ran down the stairs until she bumped with someone.

Muttering an apology, she picked herself up and got ready to run, when she remembered, there was no one living here except her and her mom, who was working. She turned around and was met with hair. A lot of hair to be exact. A déjà vu feeling washed over her. The familiar bloodcurdling suddenly booms out and she looked at the recording tape the person was holding. She knew who that was. The girl. Who was in her dream. To make things worse, she was holding a knife.
