Neverland

Wesley’s POV

“Wesley dear, your dad and I are heading out for the night! Ok?”

Putting my book down I called out, “Yeah!  Come on mom, I’m seventeen!”

“Ok ok.  See you later I love you!”

Then the door clicked shut, finally I would have silence.  At this rate I would never be able to finish my book ‘Peter Pan’.  I would never be able to find out the ending.  A few days ago I picked up the book at a garage sell.  I walked by it then came back unable to resist the draw of cheap books, which my room was filled with.  So far I had gotten three fourths through the book, when by now I would usually be done with it.  With everything I did and with how people seemed to need me most when I read like one sentence I couldn’t get any farther than I already was.

Before I could start really reading I felt something rub against my leg followed by whining.  Exasperated but affectionately I looked down at the yellow Labrador Retriever.  I’ve had her for most of my life, both of us growing up together.  This dog was my best friend, and always would be since I didn’t talk to many people.  I gave her the weirdest name on the face of the planet though.  Nanners was what I named her, just because she was yellow.  I know, weird.

“What is it Nan?”  Her big brown dog eyes looked up at me with the sad and cute expression that only animals could pull off.  Her body shook as she wildly wagged her tail, whipping at the desk with it. “Out?  You want out,” I asked as I began to reach for the bandana I always put on her neck when we went out.  Everybody in town knew that when they saw a yellow dog with a bandana on it was mine.  Putting my book down I started to tie the blue cloth around her neck and smiled.  “Alright girl, lead the way.”

Scratching at my shower damp hair I opened the large window in my room.  I’d only taken a shower a few hours before taking Nanners out but the little demon decided to push me down a hill into a bunch of mud.  It was horrible, wet, and the darkest I had ever been in my life.

I pulled back the pale gray covers on the bed and got into it in only my boxers, curling up at the initial feeling of cold from the blanket.

“God fucking dammit!  Get back here!”

Furrowing my brow I shot up again.  Tentatively I called out in the dark, “H-hello?”

“Fuck you, you son of a bitch!”

Getting up I made my way to the sound, which was coming from the window.  Poking my head out I looked around seeing… nothing.  I lived in the middle of the woods so all I could see were the normal trees, my yard, and the few street lamps that led into town.

All of that suddenly disappeared as everything went black.  I was surrounded by darkness and the breath hitched in my lungs, hurting my chest.  But as quickly as it came it was gone.  Now all I could see was a pair of bright green eyes before roughly falling.  The breath I had finally regained was pushed out of me with an audible ‘oomph’.  Pain erupted in my body as I hit the floor hard, feeling my head bounce a bit.  I hissed and felt a great weight pressing on top of me.

Peter’s POV

I groaned and blinked hard a few times.  Beneath me I heard a groan to echo mine and I looked down to see a boy with short pale blonde hair and skin almost as pale.  His features were contorted into a pained expression as another hiss came out of his mouth.   Blinking hard I was eventually met with stony gray eyes.  The boy gasped and stiffened, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink.  I couldn’t help but stare at him as we lay in silence.  I was beginning to become aware of everywhere my body touched his, and it wasn’t so bad.

Panic washed over his features and he began to roughly struggle underneath me, roughly pushing at me.  I held my ground and smiled, “Hi.”

“Get off me!”

“Why?”

“Who are you!?  Get off me!”

Sighing I pushed up and off him, offering my hand to help him up.  He looked at it for a moment before scrambling up and away from me.  I watched the way his thin frame moved before he quickly dragged a shirt on.  “Get out!”  He grabbed an umbrella from the desk, “I sware to god if you come near me I will kill you!”

I raised an eyebrow and chuckled, “With that thing?”

The boy looked to the umbrella then to me and held it out farther, “Fuck yeah! Now stay away!”

I waved my hand dismissively at him, “Calm down, I’m not here for you.”  I began to look around inspecting the small room as best I could, “He’s gotta be here somewhere.” I lifted up a blue beanbag, looking under it before plopping it back down onto the floor.

“Who,” the boy asked.

I continued my search, “Well my shadow of course.  Haven’t you ever lost yours?”

The boy looked at me incredulously, “What the hell are you talking about?”

“I told you,” I rolled my eyes annoyed now, absentmindedly motioning to the light switch. “Can you turn the light on?  It’ll be easier to find the bastard.”  Lowering his umbrella a look of confusion still on his face he flipped the switch.  Suddenly his eyes widened as he spotted my shadow lying on the floor hoping not to be seen by me.

“You little ass!”  I lunged down at the ground gripping its legs tightly while it struggled to get free of my grip.  I pulled as hard as I could, wrestling on the floor a bit I finally got him to attach to my feet.

I sighed letting my shoulders slump in relief as it stilled, “Finally, sheesh.”

“You weren’t kidding,”

I looked at the boy slightly offended, “Of course I wasn’t! I don’t lie, well sometimes, but not then!”  Standing I brushed at my clothes, fixing my green hoodie.  The boy just stood their looking uncomfortable and awkward.

“W-well now that you have what you want you can leave. Go.”  He pointed at the window with the umbrella.  Smirking I plopped myself down on his bed, laying down spread eagle on the comfortable pale grey sheets.  “No, I think I’ll stay.”
