He nodded his head again.

"What are you crazy?" I said hitting him lightly on the shoulder

He shrugged, and fiddled with his fingers.

"Narvel!" I said trying to get his attention.

"What!" he said picking his head up.

"This is serious!" I said standing up.

"You think I don't already know that? I think this is it." he said lowering his tone of voice.

"What do you mean?" I asked concerned sitting next to him again, showing I was there.

"Im filing for a divorce-"

"No, Narvel you can't, you can't do that. What about your kids, you're throwing your whole life away by doing that. please dont, tell me you won-"

He cut my off.

"I've made up my mind, its not fair to me, or Lisa, and I'll still have my kids Reba, I'm not going to abandon my family."

I shook my head at him.

"Reba, this is a gut feeling." he said trying to get me to understand.

"I don't know what to say-" I said avoiding eye contact.

"Tell me you'll be there for me" he said taking my hands in his. I suddenly turned to face him, taken back by his sudden action.

I nodded "Of course, youre here for me, I'm here for you." I said, hands still in his.

I looked down at them, and he cleared his throat and pulled away.

"Uhh, can I get you something to drink? I have coffee, tea-"

He held his hand up

"No you've done enough, im going to file now" he said standing up to leave.

"You can't do that!" I said getting defensive.

"Why?" He said turning to face me.

"They're going to think our divorces are related!" I said quickly.

He shook his head, "I've waited long enough, and if so let them talk" he said walking away.

I shook my head and folded my arms.

"What?" he laughed seeing my reaction.

"You don't care about my reputation, do you?" I asked.

"I do so"

"do not"

"do so"

"do not"

"im not arguing like this Reba, my marriage is over, and that's that." he said putting on the last of his belongings.

"Call me" I said before he shut the door.

I hope he knows what he's doing.

About an hour later my phone rang again, assuming it was only Narvel I casually answered it.

"Hello?"

"Reba?"

"Yes?"

I sat up realizing that it wasn't Narvel.

"This is Lisa"

I felt my face redden.

I tried to keep a steady voice.

"Oh Lisa, what can I do for you?" I said nice as can be.

"Well where's Narvel?" she said in a unkind tone.
