"Why did the world have to punish me like this?" Jasmine thought to herself. She just went to check the mail and saw an acceptance letter to Camp Strawberries. She screamed at the sky until the neighbors told her to shut up. Then she contemplated life while she stared at the letter, but in the end she knew what she had to do.
"Mom !" Jasmine said, dashing up the stairs to her mother's room. "Are you trying to kill me?! Why would you send me to a stupid camp when I could be playing videogames?!"
Her mom was busy listening to music and organizing her room. Jasmine stomped over to her mom and tapped her shoulder. Her mom spun around as she took out the earphones.
"What is it now ?" she said, crossing her arms. Jasmine's mom thought it was one of her silly antics again, but Jasmine seemed angry.
"This," Jasmine said, pointing to the acceptance letter. " What is this?"
"Oh, that?" her mom said, awkwardly rubbing the back of her neck her mom took a piece of trash and threw it away. " I thought it was time to socialize. You know get to know some people and get a boyfriend. Maybe then I could stop you from turning into a mini Scrooge."
"Ba-humbug" Jasmine grumbled. She crumbled up the letter and threw it into the trash bin, but missed the shot. "Dang it."
"Come on," her mom said, sitting down. "It won't be so bad."
"Yes it will" Jasmine whined. "What if they don't watch anime? What if they're normal and I'm the only weird one? What if... I see a cute boy?"
"That's a lot of what ifs," her mom said laughing. "And if you meet a cute boy, call me and invite me to the wedding."
Jasmine groaned while her mom started laughing. Some people don't understand the hate for strawberries. Jasmine shook her head and went down to the kitchen to continue eating her breakfast. She couldn't stand to waste precious food.
