"NO GET OFF OF ME!" I screamed as my best friend attempted to tickle me to death.

"Not until you apologize!" he cried, holding his hand like it was made of glass.

"I'm sorry I hit your hand, Ty," I mumbled pushing him off me onto the grass beneath us.

"Thanks, now can we go get something to eat? I'm really hungry," he said as he stood up and brushed the grass off of him.

"Yea but I'm not that hungry," and as if on cue, my stomach growled like it contained a pack of lions.

We both giggled and ran into my house from my backyard.

"Mommy!" I cried, hugging her fiercely.

"Sweetheart, I've been here the whole time you two were playing, you know that right?" she chuckled, looking down at me lovingly.

"Yep, I just missed you," I sighed, letting go of her and moving to my father, who was making something on the stove.

"AH!" he whirled around and hoisted me up in the air and spun me around, hugging me tightly, "I've missed you pumpkin! Next time I go to work, you are coming too."

"Can Ty come?" I questioned, looking at my best friend.

"Sweetheart, of course; I do work with his father at the pack house," he winked at me as he set me down.

I giggled and ran through the house after Tyler, screeching as we played tickle-tag.

"Thanks for bringing him home again, Cheryl," Mrs. Sky said graciously, holding her sleeping son over shoulder.

"No problem, we do live in the same neighborhood, remember Dianne?" my mother smiled warmly at her friend, taking my hand and waving goodbye.

I heard the door shut before my mom turned to me with a glimmer in her eyes and said, "wanna go for a run?"

I nodded my head enthusiastically, i loved going on runs with her. I watched in awe as she changed to her deep brown wolf and quickly climbed on her back as we had done so many times before.

I was laughing as my mom was chasing a bunny through the forest, when I heard a snap.

My mom immediately froze and growled, bearing her teeth at the sound. Three ginormous wolves appeared from the darkness and shifted in front of us.

Being a park of a pack, I was used to nudity so i had not problem looking at these men with no other emotion than being terrified.

I slid off my mothers back and hid behind her once she had shifted. I sniffed the air and recoiled, it smelled of garbage and body odor.

Rouges.

"You are crossing White Moon territory. Leave now or face the consequences," she said with authority in her voice.

"Oh but you see, we have every right to be here, as we belong nowhere," the man in the middle snickered.

"Rogue or not, you must leave. The alpha has already been notified and will be coming soon," she said, power in her stance.

"Well, no one likes a tattle-tale, now do they?" he questioned, stepping forward.

"Ella, run!" she cried as she shoved me out of the way as she was attacked by all three men, now in their wolf forms.

She stood no chance.

I sobbed as I ran, knowing my mom was gone.

I crashed to the ground as my legs gave out, hitting my head, hard.

The last thing I remember before passing out was the howl of my father, followed by thirty to forty other wolves; the cry of a pack losing their beta female.

The cry of pain and sorrow.

The cry that changed my life to a living hell.
