"Your so beautiful baby girl, smile!" My grandmother whispered in my ear as I looked at myself in pure disgust in the mirror. I have the huge black burn scar that covers almost my whole left eye.

"Don't let nobody tell you any different.." My grandma said as she placed a kiss on my forehead and left my room. I really wish I could believe her, but it's hard when you've been told different your whole life. I checked myself over in the mirror again as I pulled my hair into a slicked back puff and put on some silver studs.  I applied a little lip gloss and called it a day, I never used a whole lot of makeup, no amount of makeup could fix my face.

I sighed as I put my book bag on, grabbed my keys and made my way down the stairs. "Bye grandma, I see ya once I get home." I called out as I started walking towards the door.

"Okay baby, have a great first day." I heard my grandmother say as I slowly closed the front door behind me. I noticed an eviction notice on the door as I quickly snatched it off. Money was pretty tight in my house right now, shit was annoying.

I walked to school with my head down. Never looking up. I don't feel like dealing with any stares or kids asking there parents what's wrong with me  today. I'm just not in the mood.

I played with the braclets on my wrist making sure they hide the several cut marks.

After 15 minutes I finally arrived at my school. It felt kinda good knowing this was my last damn year. I quickly walked past the crowd of kids waiting outside. My head held down as usual. I walked to the main office to pick up my schedule.

"Heyy dede!" My guidance counselor said to me as she smiled at me. "How was your break? I hope it was lit! You better have turned upp! Miss Jackson said making me giggle. I shrugged my shoulders casually. "It was fine..I guess" I say lying through my teeth. "I know your here to get your schedule girl and you have all honor classes!" Miss Jackson said happily as she printed my schedule out of the computer.

She handed me the schedule and I said my goodbyes and left the main office. I looked at it and noticed I had advanced trigonometry. Damn that was gonna be easy breezy. I was hella good at math.

"Look at the fucking freak, I thought you would of switched schools after what we did to your ass last year!" Ayesha said coming up behind me. Her little demons following behind her.

I didn't respond I just sighed. I'm so tired of these bitches. I let my head fall as Ayesha  and her friends circled around  me. "You better put that head down, don't nobody wanna see that fucked up ass  face!" She said giggling and laughing as she walked away

I rolled my eyes and made my way to my first period trigonometry class. I walked into the classroom and I was the first person there. I took a seat all the way in the back. A few minutes later students started coming in.  The teacher followed in right before the bell

"Hello students, welcome back to Eastview high, I hope you had an amazing summer and are prepared for a great year, My name is Mr. Coleman and I'm your trigonometry tea..." He was cut off by a loud ass bang on the door. Mr. Coleman made his way to the door and opened it.

Literally the whole class erupted in cheers as the saw august  make his way through the door. "Yo wassup!" August  said as he dabbed up several students as he made his way down the row.

My fucking heart started beating so fast as he got closer to me. He put his hand out to dab me. But I looked up for a brief second and I quickly put my head down. "Damn you cold huh ma?" He said chucking a little. I didn't respond. I was just praying to God he didn't sit next to me.

My prayers didn't work. He sat down right next to me. I avoided eye contact at all costs. I didn't even breathe in his direction and hopefully his ass wouldn't bother me.

Mr. Coleman put a few review questions on the board for us to solve. We only had 7 minutes before he erased them. I finished them in 3 minutes. I layed my head on the desk as I waited for everyone to finish. That's when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked up and August  staring dead in my eyes.

"Can you help me with the last  question?"

"Ehh...I guess I can" I say in a small voice. I was to distracted by his eyes. Not only the beautiful color but the way he looked at me. He wasn't disgusted or frightened,  it's like he didn't even see the scar.

I look over at his paper and I noticed he was on the right track but was missing something. "You need to draw the triangle exactly like this." I say grabbing his pencil and fixing the triangle.

I noticed the motherfucker staring at me. It made me feel weird as hell but I didn't bring attention to it. "..done, it's simple." I say handing him his pencil back and putting my head back down and looking over my work.

"Thanks ma, what's ya name?" He said smiling at me. "Devine" I replied quickly. "Devine, that's beautiful, it really fits you." He said before turning his attention back to Mr. Coleman.

I was blushing hella hard and I couldn't even help it. I thought I was in the Twilight Zone, why in the fuck would the most popular, sexist nigga in the school call my ugly ass pretty? He definitely had to be tweakin.
