"Yoongi, it's time." Came the small voice from the doorway of his room. Yoongi turned around slightly to meet his mother's gaze, returning her frown. She walked forwards delicately and carefully, reaching a shaking hand out to her oldest son. Yoongi took it and wrapped his fingers around her's, feeling the warmth intertwine with his and run down through his veins.

"Eomma you're shaking." Yoongi mumbled, lifting her pale fingers and examining them. Jaeri Min, pack female Alpha and second in command scoffed at her son and yanked her hand out of his grasp with a mindful smirk.

"Am not." She retorted, causing Yoongi to chuckle at her bravery. Even when she was giving her oldest to an enemy clan, she was able to be cocky and stubborn. She sighed, her joking smile fading and she wiped her hands on her dress front. "How're you feeling?"

Yoongi frowned, having feared this question from the moment he woke up. He turned back towards the window, hands fitting into his back pockets and gazed at the fresh snow glittering down from the clouds. The sun was setting behind the mountains which was a sign that the bonfire would begin very soon.

How did he feel? He wasn't entirely sure if he could come up with an emotion that fit his mindset. On the outside, he appeared unphased and ready to take on the new challenge. But running through his mind was doubts about this situation and the fear was robbing the oxygen from his lungs.

He was set to be married to the Mountain clan's Omega prince. The Valley and Mountain packs sought to unite their forces to straighten the forests boarders against the Desert pack and eastern sea pack who were constantly stealing their pups and murdering Omegas. The Desert pack was after the plentiful the Valley clan rested happily upon, and the eastern sea pack needed more wood and supplies to further protect themselves from other clans.

And the two would benefit immensely; the Mountain pack wouldn't starve during their long winters and the Valley pack would never run out of lumber, fresh spring water and stone. Yoongi had never put much thought in who he was going to marry. He assumed it'd be some pretty Omega of course, some aristocrat or a friend of his parents child. But then the sickly Mountain clan Alpha was deserpately in need of a new Alpha. So he turned to his Omega son and promised him to Yoongi, the Valley pack's Alpha prince. When the Alpha died, Yoongi and the Omega would take over as Mountain clan diplomats and become kings of the Mountain.

So how exactly was he feeling?

"I'm not sure." was Yoongi's reply. His mother laughed dryly, coming to stand beside him and stare out the tower window. Unlike many clans, the northern lands were covered with humanized packs. They build villages instead of caves and castles to help protect their Alphas and important members. They had come to realize that living amongst the wild things was too dangerous and left them horribly vulnerable. The southern clans still lived like that and were always being attacked.

The northern clans liked to think of themselves as kingdoms in a way. Protected and organized. Powerful and ruthless.

"I expected you to be at the least bit excited. You're about to meet your future husband." Smiled his mother. Yoongi sighed largely and she groaned. "Yah, I hear he's very handsome. I expect beautiful pups by spring."

Yoongi tore his eyes away from the window to rest on his mother. "But what if we aren't destined to be mates?" asked Yoongi a bit quieter. His mother locked eyes with him once more and he saw then and there what she really wanted to tell him.

Instead of strong beautiful Alpha female Jaeri, she was the small blue eyed women who used to sew his sisters flower crowns. He saw her kindness and her motherhood, her desire to say 'this isn't right, you should find your mate on your own' but instead she bit her tongue and flashed him an encouraging but false smile.
