I was summoned on a cool spring afternoon. At the time I was in the midst of my friends at Dirs bar in Hilon. The carrier of the news that changed my life forever was, Reton, my father's closest companion, advisor, and person in charge of the capital while he was away on business. The room grew quiet at he slowly walked up to me and placed his hands on mine. He solemnly raised his head up and his grey eyes locked with my marble blue eyes. Reton was only In the prime of his life maybe about the age of 40, but today he seemed much older by the manner in which he was walking and acting. All he said were two words that sent my whole world into turmoil. " Your Majesty..", he stated quietly, " I am here to inform you that your mother, father, and e..e..." He stuttered getting his words out as he held back the tears and choking in his throat. " Your eldest.. Sister... their trip to to Isern got interrupted by a horrible storm, and the ship did not survive. Your parents and sister have.... Passed on." The words came out if his mouth like he was trying to spit up dried paste. He finally seemed relieved to have it out of his head. " As next in line you are the reigning monarch of the country of Reilly." I looked around as the bar was dead silent and everyone was staring at me with cold eyes and pity in some of the faces of my friends. I turned back to Reton, " could we discuss this matter outside in private please?" I kept a solemn straight face even in the time of tragedy for I was taught to do so. Let me get my things together and I will meet you at the castle in no less than two days", I said to Reton. He looked at me with an upset face and spoke firmly,"We have no time to wait! Without a ruler they will give the kingdom to some pathetic lowlife because your sister is too young to reign." Without hesitation I followed him to the carriage and sat across from him as the horses started at a speedy pace south towards Reilly. I did not ask questions for I knew my responsibilities I owe the kingdoms. I had nothing to say.

The funeral was to be held in two days and my coronation was in a weeks time. As I entered the castle walls I solemnly walked up the staircase where I noticed my younger sister and brother waiting patiently for me. My sister, Aria was only two years younger than I, but my brother, Aaron, was only eight years old. He ran to me sobbing hysterically. Aria did not dare get close to me. Since four years ago when I chose to desert the kingdom for a free lifestyle with my own rules Aria renounced me as her sister. She just stood with arms folded and tears streaming down her face. I just stood in silence and not a single tear in my eye. I wanted to scream, cry out, or just lash out in anger on anything close to me, but I could not. If anyone was not allowed to mourn their deaths it would be me. Any sign of weakness shows failure as the future monarch or 'queen'of the southern lands. I had no time to cry.

The funeral was a quite one with thousands of people there to pay the utmost respects to my family. Tears filled eyes of many and songs were played in honor after the speeches were made. I shed not a single tear. I stood in an agonizing silence, but my torn heart was screaming out.

"Long live the queen!" Announced the priest as he placed my mother's crown on my head. 5 days after the funeral I had now officially became queen of this kingdom. Eyes wandered and doubts arose since they were stuck with me, the runaway princess. As I made my way down through the corridor that led to the council room Reton stopped me before opening the brass doors. "Are you sure that you are ready for this?" He asked quietly. " how is anyone truly ready for something of this nature?" I questioned back bitterly. Without another word he nodded his head in agreement, and I opened the doors. The doors that when opened changed my fate forever. The words echoed in my head, 'long live the queen.'
