It's not like I don't want to be powerful- I do, but not in that way.

I never knew how to describe it. It's just there; present. Alive. It's a part of you. You feel it in every single bone in your body, afire and tingling, until you feel your spirit burning and sweltering and dancing.

You'd think that you'd get used to it, but in fact, you never do. It's not exactly disturbing, it's just so new and unfamiliar that you can't help but flinch every time you feel it.

It's been like this for a few years now. I don't quite remember how it happened; it doesn't even make sense to me. It all happened so fast, so quickly, like a lightning bolt. A lightning bold that never ended.

Everything turned upside down. Literally.

Turns out we only partake half of the globe. And my "we" I mean the normal people, living in the normal, upper side of the earth. Where there's only one type of people. Humans. And animals. But humans are just, well, humans.

Here, there are no humans. Just creatures. I'm not even sure it's called earth.

I'm not even sure it's real.

Fire. Light. Music. Screams. Fire. Light. More fire.

That's all I could remember. That's all I could think about; the fire. Every time I close my eyes. It's there. The black we see when we close our eyes is replaced with a thunderstorm of flames.

I am still pretty sure this whole thing is a dream. A dream that keeps looping and looping until you fall asleep and your thoughts can't even make sense anymore.

I don't want it to make sense. I want it to end.

I've been sitting in this dark room the whole day. I don't want to see anyone. Can they be called "ones"? What do they call themselves? Surely not humans. They are not humans. They are monsters. Filthy and dirty creatures. They might look like humans, but they're not. Their spirit is too dark, too evil for them to be humans.

"You are powerful. You do not belong here. Your destiny belongs elsewhere; it belongs where you are needed. We need you here. We need you."

A dark figure stood at my doorway. Light shimmered from her/his eyes. Is it a woman? Voice too thick to be a woman, figure too bulky to be a man.

"Who are you? What are you doing here? Go away before I call the cops." My voice shivered; my voice never shivers.

"We need you,

I am normal. I am completely and absolutely normal.

I am a normal 17 years old girl, living in a normal world with a normal family and normal friends.

I. Am. Normal.

"You are powerful. You do not belong here. Your destiny belongs elsewhere; it belongs where you are needed. We need you here. We need you."

The words keep haunting me. They keep torturing every side of my brain, every side of my conscious.

We need you.

Need me? For what? It's not like I'm doing anything useful here. I'm sitting in this old, rotten dark room, listening to demonic voices haunting every corner of it.

"Your time will come."

I'll be fucking dead before it does.

Have you ever believed in monsters? In something so dark and dreadful, that you wish your entire existence could banish just by thinking of them?

Well, If you don't, it's about time for you to reconsider.

Because monsters are real.

You're probably thinking that I'm joking, or just messing around, or you're curious about why I know.

Well, easy.

I know...

Because I'm one of them.

Brace yourselves. Because your dreams... are memories.

They told you a million time that dreams come true; but did they ever mention that nightmares are dreams, too?
