"Why, hello there! My name is Mr. Pond," The man that Ben had said would take me on a tour had a very nicely ironed suit and pants. He was about a few inches taller than me, but I was shorter than the average eighth grader. I smiled at him and asked, "So what do you do here?" He had already begun to walk off, me trailing behind, and answered, "I test and study the genetics of the human brain. Our current major project is called the Imagine Project. " Mr. Pond puffed out his chest with pride and then stated, "Our predictions say that we should be able to design a relatively inexpensive brain to machine device. It would theoretically be able to link a human's brain and use it's complexity to control a machine. It combines the idea of the brains intelligence with the strength of machines." I thought that this was an impossible idea, but of course I had to ask questions about this. It seemed pretty cool. "What are you testing these ideas on, since you said that the Imagine Project is already being worked on here?" He simply shrugged. We walked through a hallway as we talked, and eventually ended up in a hallway with many doors on each side. The doors each had an entry lock device, in which Mr. Pond opened the closest room to us. "Inside here, we test the machinery of the future!" he said excitedly. When I stepped inside, I realized that the MTAI was impossible. It was bigger on the inside.
I stood in the doorway, mouth gaping wide at the enormous expanse of room before me. Inside a door that barely fit Mr. Pond, there was enough room to fit a football field. I would've stood there for minutes if the door hadn't closed, pushing me forward. Mr. Pond was chatting at with two scientists, one a guy and one girl, both professionally dressed. Mr. Pond gestured toward me and kept talking to them, but they were too far away to hear. The girl nodded and the guy walked toward a huge metal box, big enough to fit at least two elephants, even though I've never actually seen one. He opened a door on the side and stepped in. One side of the box opened, roaring as it did so, like a garage. It revealed the man inside what seemed to be just a mechanical shell with tubes and wires on him. It kind of looked like what I thought a spacesuit in the year 5000 would look like. The surface metal gleamed like a dark mirror. The girl went up to him and opened a hatch on the mechanical suit's back. She muttered something to him and he put on a breathing mask, like what people use to scuba dive. But thee girl ran over to one of the box's walls and got two small canisters labelled, "Imagine Project: Link Gas" . She hooked it up to the suit and closed the hatch. The suit made a hissing noise as the man seemed to breathe in the gas. The he opened his eyes wide. And jumped more than forty feet across the massive room to where Mr. Pond and I were standing. My mouth gaped open while Mr. Pond squealed in delight like a little girl getting ice cream.
