today's song

because of you - kelly clarkson

shawn mendes

"shawn? shawn buddy, hellooo?"

i shook my head, snapping out of whatever i just thought of.

"sorry what?" i said looking up to the person that was talking to me, which was cameron.

"i said we're all going to bed, it's 3 in the morning." he chuckled.

"wait, where is everyone?" i asked.

"well when maggie walked in and she passed right by and ignored you, you were staring towards the direction she came in from for a good five minutes, and we all just agreed on going to bed." he explained.

"so none of it really happened?" i whispered to myself.

"what didn't really happen?" he said, furrowing his eyebrows.

"oh nothing, i'm going to bed. today was a long day, night cameron." i walked towards the stairs.

"night shawn."

-

i wrapped myself up in my sheets, my pillow feeling damp because of my freshly washed hair. i processed what happened, well, what didn't happen.

she's back, she's in my house at the moment, but we never kissed, we never had that conversation, and i never held her in my arms.

it was all in my imagination.

"good morning everyone!" i said, walking into the dining room.

"has anyone seen maggie?" mia asked.

"she went out for her morning run, like usual." shawn's cook, mrs. catia, said.

she was a short lady, dark hair, around her fifties maybe? she was so happy when shawn brought maggie here to the mansion.

"what do you have prepared for us today mrs. catia?" shawn asked, obviously excited.

"i've made toast, egg and cheese omelettes, some fruit salad, and last but not least, p-"

"pumpkin waffles!" a very familiar voice said.

"there's my sweet little girl! how was your run?" catia asked.

"it was great, but it would be even better if i could finish it off with that whole plate of pumpkin waffles!" maggie said, reaching over for the whole plate of waffles.

most people would say 'she won't finish that whole plate of waffles'. but if you put maggie and a plate of pumpkin waffles in the same room, she'll finish them in a heartbeat.

"oh no you don't" catia said, slapping maggies hand.

maggie quickly brought her hand back, rubbing against it. "ow." she whined softly.

"i'll make you another one. for now, take one waffle and some of the other things i made and i'll bring you your second waffle." catia said, making maggie a plate of everything.

"fine." maggie huffed.

catia walked back into the kitchen, leaving us to eat. it was so quiet, all you heard was the sound of our silverware hitting against our plates.

finally, maggie broke the silence.

"mia, i can practically smell you're nervousness from all the way over here. what's going on?" maggie asked.
