LAST PART

Shawn:

Some people might never know what it feels like, to stand in the hospital room of your daughter, watching her struggling to breathe.

To live.

After the doctors got her on oxygen Maya left to go get some food and water. I sat next to her, taking her hand in mine. "Daddy." I heard her weks voice. "Hey baby girl. I'm right here." I stood up, looking down at her.

I saw the tears starting to pool up in her eyes, forming tears in mine.

"Did we win?" She asked and I nodded, chukling. "You scored the winning goal Sky." I said excitedly.

But she looked disappointed.

"I'm sorry. I thought I'd make you and mommy proud." She cried and I shook my head. "No! Darling I'm so proud of you. You played so good. Mommy and I are so proud of you." I kissed her forehead as she squeezed my hand.

"You're going to be okay." I whispered to her.

How can we fix this? What can we do to make her still play but just minimize the risk of her practically dying out on the field?

I have so many questions in my mind that needs answers. But nobody can answer them. Nobody can give me a solution for my problems.

I heard footsteps coming in and I looked over my shoulder to see Maya.

She saw that Skyler was awake and came rushing over. "Hello my darling." She breathed out a breath of relief as she looked down at our daughter.

"She's okay." I whispered, wrapping my arm around her waist and pulling her closer to me. "Well thank god for that." She sighed, kissing the top of my head as she took Skyler's hand in hers. "I promise you, I'll fight with everything and anything within me to get you better. To get you to do the things you want to. You're my baby and I won't let you down." She said softly, kissing her forehead before sitting down next to me.

"Can we take her home?" She asked and I nodded. "But only in a few hours. She still needs to get checked up. But I'm sure everything will be okay." I said, placing my hand down on her thigh and looking over to Skyler again.

"Dad." She said weakly and I took her hand. "I want to go home." She said, turning to face us and I smiled. "Just a few more hours baby girl. Then we can take you home." I said and she closed her eyes, falling onto her back again.

She needs to get better. I know within time she'll get stronger and this won't be such a big problem. But now I just want to take her home and be with her and Maya.

A few hours after and we got Skyler out of the hospital. "What did the doctor say?" I asked as Maya came out of the room, after lying her down and getting her to sleep.

She's still very weak.

"They did a small implant and that'll help her to breath more easily. When she plays or does activities she still needs her pump with her just in case but nothing similar will happen to what happened at her game." She said and I smiled, knowing my girl will be okay.

"She'll get stronger, I know it." I wrapped my arms around her, kissing her neck. "Shawn!" She whined, turning around in my arms. "Sky is asleep." She whispered and I nodded. "Exactly. She's asleep." I said and crahsed my lips to hers.

"Okay. But not here." She said, taking my hand in hers and walking back downstairs.

"You doing this old school?" I chuckled as she sat down on my lap, on the couch. "Just shut up." She laughed, pressing her lips to mine again and we started making out.

My hands traveling up her back, pulling her shirt over her head. "God I missed you." I mumbled as she kissed down my neck.

"I'm sorry." She said, sadness in her eyes as she looked down at me. Playing with the hem of my shirt. I smiled, pulling my shirt over my head and grasping her in my arms. Throwing her down on the couch and hovering over her.

"I'm just happy nothing changed over the years." I said, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "And I hope it never will." She added before pulling me down to her again.

I love my family.

I love Maya.

And I love Skyler.

This is only the beginning of a wonderful and marvelous life. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
