A/N: I have another short story I am planning on publishing soon. The stories in this book are mostly going to be gory or scary in some way.

Jasmine's dad mutters "This old piece of crap," under his breath as he steps out his car and slams his door shut, jolting Jake awake. He paces back and forth, walking from one side of the car to the other, his eyebrows furrowed and his hands balled into fists by his side, trembling with cold. He shuffles back to the driver's side of the car and rips his jacket from the luggage next to him, pulling it around his head and wrapping his freezing skin with the warm soft material, before circling back to his daughter's door and tapping on her window to roll it down. "I'm gonna go down to a gas station I saw a few miles back, see if they can see what's wrong with the car so we can get moving, I have my phone with me so text me if you need to." She nods her head then begins rolling up her window again as she sees him puff with rage as he stumbles along the road.Twenty minutes later she glances at the time on her phone, annoyed he hasn't responded to any of her calls or texts since he left, she's not worried, nor is she surprised, just aggravated. She rolls her eyes then directs her eyes to her right, looking at her brother, his dark brown eyes scanning the road frantically over and over, "What's the matter?" she teases him, shoving him slightly.
His shoulders relax and he drops his eyes to his feet, "Nothing, I just thought I heard something-" He cuts off, both of their eyes alert, directed towards the front window, nothing but shrubs and trees only illuminated by the light of Jasmine's phone, which she quickly flicks off, but their eyes stay fixed on the general area where they heard a rustle, another rustle catches them off guard from this time behind the car, Jasmine gasps, but Jake's hand immediately raises to her mouth, followed by his own hand reaching his face, one finger pressed against the center of his lips. She closes her eyes and squeezes his hand, he squeezes back then she quickly lets go when startled by sudden movement from outside of Jake's window. Her eyes follow the sound, as soon as they scan the edge of the glass she sees something dark moving quickly, out if the corner of her eye, Jake yells, "Duck!"
Without questioning his motive she swiftly drops to the floor, her knees hugging her chest and her hands pressed against her hair. A fist-sized rock hurls through the glass, followed by another smaller rock, sending glass over their heads.
She raises her head slowly to see the whistle of a smooth blade soaring through the air, the point sinks into her brother's neck, his head drops to the side, his eyelids drooping, the blood bubbling up in his throat, gurgling as he bleeds out. Jasmine's eyes stings with tears, she sits up next to him, her knees pressed against his thighs, she grabs frantically for her phone and calls for help, the line immediately drops and her phone won't get any signal, she whispers, "It's going to be okay," in between sobs in the calmest voice she can manage, for her brother and for herself. She drops her phone and lets the screen crack as it smacks against the ground. She brings both of her hands up to his shoulders, "I'm sorry," she whimpers, "I'm so so sorry."
Jasmine jumps back when blood squirts from his wound, spraying the seat in front of them. His choking becomes louder and more abrupt, his shoulders shaking and his head dropping back. The gurgling stops and he stops moving, his chest no longer rises and falls to the rhythm of his breathing, now it lays still. The blood from his throat stains her jeans as she scoots back away from his limp body.
Jasmine's throat burns from constant screaming, but she couldn't stop. She let her fists pound on the car seat, she pushed as hard as she could, her back pressed against the car door, the smooth silver handle digging into her back. Thick red blood was spilling endlessly from the deep gash in his neck, pooling around his hands and thighs every second, inching toward her. Her screams turned into sobs. She brought her hands to her eyes, sobbing more and more, tears streamed down her face until-
Thump, thump, thump. Thump, thump, thump. She slowly turns her head, dropping her unsteady hands to her side, twisting her torso to look out the window. There, looming just before her, stood a man, a pearly white mask covering his features. Two gaping holes were carved out for the eyes, along with eight much smaller holes in two rows of four where his mouth was. Framing the mask lied a loose grey hoodie. Just under the edge of the hood, is his hand displaying something just a foot from the window, the small source of light, flickering with its last breath, only licks the surface of his mask not yet revealing the object in his hand. The murderer steps forward, Jasmine's eyes adjust quickly, upon uncovering what's suspended before her, she gasps, bringing her hands up to her lips, her father's eyes are still open and his jaw hangs loosely in front of her, blood drips from the fresh wound decorating his forehead, rolling down off of the jagged and torn flesh of his severed head. The man in a mask, clangs the machete from his right hand onto the floor, then releases her father's head soon after, with both of his hands free, he forms a fist with his left hand, pulling it back for a couple seconds, then forces it forward, hundreds of jagged shards of glass shower Jasmine, she cowers away but as soon as the fragments pierce her skin she lets out a yelp in between sobs, he reaches his blood covered knuckles into the car, his long slender fingers grip onto her ankle. She screams again and again, trying to yank her legs back, but he's stronger than her, and his grip is firm, he continues dragging her out of the car , the ragged edges of the broken window slice into her shins and thighs, he throws her onto the hard asphalt, pinning her to the floor, clouds form in her vision as he hoists up his dagger letting it glide down in his hand, lunging into her chest, blood spurts out of her mouth as he releases the handle. The light fades from her eyes.
