Chapter one: waking up
I woke up to darkness, images flashed in my. head of my failed attempt to escape. The trees hit me relentlessly slashing and stinging my cheeks and arms. The sound of my captors yelling,"find him!"the dogs barking, guns firing. The familiar sound of my racing heart. As I reached the river a gurgling sound arose and as I ran further a great cracking noise ripped through the night the ice underneath me buckled and I plunged into the deep, dark ,frigid water hitting my head on the ice. As the current sucked me down and swept me downstream I searched for something to grab hold of but to there was nothing and the current was too fast for me too grab hold of the rocks was slammed into the dagger like rocks on the bottom of the river the air was sucked out of me by the impact leaving me breathless. I was slammed into a massive boulder and knocked unconscious I saw a flashing light and then I was pulled from the water. I awoke on the bank to a voice of the guards "Is he alive?" One asked. Probing fingers touched my neck checking my pulse then the head guard replied "yes" His name is Milo. Let me tell you about Milo. He is about six foot seven and has the look of a big time muscle builder. Me, my name is Alex Stone unlike most kids I don't have a middle name. I am sixteen years old. I have jet black hair and onyx eyes. I am five foot nine and one hundred thirty five pounds. Ever since I first came here at the age of ten I have tried to escape. and every time I fail but that hasn't stopped me yet. " Wake up boy, come on" Milo prodded me in the side with his gun and waited. After a few moments he tried again "If you don't get up you will freeze to death, now come on get your scrawny ass up and move it". I moved a small bit I couldn't do much my. Numb legs and swollen fingers wouldn't cooperate and I had to be carried. Somewhere along the way back I passed out again. So now here I sit wrapped in blankets soaking wet with Milo on full alert staring at me. " You look like a drowned cat" he remarked "thanks" I muttered. His boom of laughter shook the cell.
