Chapter Two - A little dark, a little sad, always gloomy

Regulus Black

The person in dark robes approaches me with his hand outstretched in front of him, wand in hand. Death Eater. I desperately try to run away, to escape the darkness slowly enveloping me in its tight embrace. After seemingly endless struggles, I realize what's happening. Nightmares. I try to calm myself down.

It's not reality, it'll go away.

I could tell it doesn't work. Knowing all this is a dream doesn't help it the man in the dark robes seem any more of a illusion as it was before. His robes that seem to be part of the shadows surrounding look like a black cloud of chaos, and very real. His dark mop of hair that is only slightly visible from under his hood looks very real. His shining eyes from behind his mask shiny with a cruel light. A light that gives away the fact that this man is mad, insane, and capable of killing and not losing a second of sleep over it.

I had a little flash-back of memories. It felt like I was being stabbed in between my eyes, but it subsided as soon as it appeared. Sirius and I. I remembered when we were little and innocent, well, not sure about Sirius but I was, and Sirius was telling me random quotes from this one book he loved-

yes, I know. Sirius knew how to read. Surprising, right?

-and one quote that he told me was, Monsters don't sleep under your bed, they sleep in your head.

At the time, I didn't understand what it meant, but now I'm experiencing the feeling of the quote itself.

The quote didn't refer to actual monster, like boggarts, or dementors, or others, because the book was a muggle one. What the quote meant was that the thing that can scare the most are in your head, your thoughts, and your imagination. Monsters aren't real for muggles, but some of them have imagination strong enough to scare them, influence their dreams, cloud their thought with things that are most likely never gonna happen to them but it still scares them.

The man's eyes glinted in a dangerous light that sent a shiver up my spine. I knew what he was about to do. I've seen my own parents have the same glint in their eyes when they were about punish Sirius countless of times.

Cruciatus Curse.

Pain was the only word you can use to describe the spell. It was the one I hate the most, because it was the one that scarred a person the most . . .

. . . and the Death Eater towering over me right now was about to use it on me . . .

I tried to take a step back, but an invisible force didn't allow me to.

My chest was rising and falling at an uncontrollable speed and I could almost hear it. It seemed as if my soul sensed what was coming and was trying its best to escape. I couldn't blame it.

"Crucio!" the man finally shouted. A bright scarlet light emerged from the tip of his wand and zoomed towards what the wand was pointed at, which, in this case, was me.

The red light finally reached me, hitting me squarely on the chest, and I felt like I've been stabbed in the gut with a knife.

I let out an earsplitting scream that pierces through my nightmare which causes a headache to add on to all the pain I'm already experiencing.

"Enjoying it?" asks the man?

Just then, the pain subsides, leaving only the headache. I feel myself being shook out of the endless curtains of darkness into another dimension only to see a certain blonde looking down at me from the edge of my bed, a look of concern and confusion fused together into a priceless expression that Sirius would've paid to see.

"Are you okay?" she asks, her blue-gray eyes are looking down at me as if she's trying to see trough me and pull out the information she's looking for herself.

"Yeah I'm . . . " I trail off as the face of the Death Eater appears in my sight. That must have told her that I was not fine. Not fine at all.

I mean, I look fine all the time, but I wasn't feeling fine at the moment.

Ugh.

You can tell Sirius has been rubbing off on me. I've started sounding like him.

"Nightmares again?" I nod to Carina's question.

"How were they? What were they about?" She asks.

"A little dark, a little sad, always gloomy. What else is a nightmare like?" I respond, sarcasm as evident is my voice as cringe in too much muggle make up.

Carina just shakes her head and leaves my room, muttering about her need for a quality bathroom time.

What an interesting way to star a day.
