On Tuesday Mom, Dave, Rosanna, her grandmother and I went to the beach. I had invited Kayla but she couldn't come. We spent until a little after three then packed up our things and headed home.

When we got home mom went straight to the kitchen to prepare dinner. I had a shower then supervised the pots while took a bathe herself. We had dinner ready in an hour. Maule chicken with noodles and fried vegetables. But just before we sat down to eat the doorbell rang.

I went to get it and was surprised at what I saw.

"Hey," I said greeting Andrew with a hug and inviting him inside. My mom got up from the table and I introduced her to Andrew.

"I brought you a little gift," he said shyly.

"You didn't have to you, already did a lot for me" I said.

"Yes" piped up mom. "I want to personally thank you for helping my daughter and for going to the police."

"Your most welcome Mrs...."

"Ms. Campbell" corrected mom. "Please stay for dinner," she suggested.

"Yeah" I said while unwrapping the gift.

I smiled when I saw its contents.

"You said your mp3 player broke so I picked up one for you."

"Thanks again" said with a warm smile and hugged him again. I took out an extra plate then the three of us sat down for dinner.

"So, what do you do Andrew?" asked my mom over dinner.

"Well I work on ships and yachts."

"Ooh okay and where do you live?"

"Well I live on my father's yacht at dock" he replied.

"As in you actually live on a boat?" I asked.

"Yeah my father left it for me when he died."

"Oh I said sorry to hear."

"Me too" said mom. "So who do you live with now?" she asked as she continued her questioning.

"I actually live alone and travel from dock to dock depending on where work takes me."

"That must be cool" I said in admiration.

"It's pretty good, I can take you there one day and show you around."

"Yeah" I said.

"So how about you Ms. Campbell, what do you do?"

"I am a writer" responded mom.

"A great one if you ask me," I interjected, "the last book she wrote entitled 'The Vancouver case' got voted Best Book of the Year."

"Oh!" said Andrew with surprise.

"You are the Thelma Campbell?"

"Yes I am" replied mom.

"Oh I've read some of your books, and I know that they caught the man responsible for the Vancouver case."

"Yes they did."

"Yeah, I know," he said without looking up.

"Well" said Andrew when we were finished eating, "I must go"
