I smile at Cain and the whole world melts away. This is what I have waited for. He loves me at last and I can finally be open about how I feel. As he opens his mouth to talk, I hear something that is definitely not his voice. The smooth silky quality of his baritone has turned into a screeching beep. I jolt upright in my bed and glare at my alarm clock. If only I didn't have to go to school.
