the day darkened. dark clouds and lightning crept across the once blue sky, and a cold air swept through the nearly empty streets. abandoned newspapers blew across the asphalt and creaking from worn buildings could be heard above the claps of thunder.
a young man walked down the middle of the road, stopping when he was directly in front of a bookstore. glancing around and seeing no one, he walked in, ignoring the closed sign that hung in the window. a quiet chime echoed throughout the small shop and an elderly woman walked out from the backroom.
"i'm sorry, we're closed..." her creaky voice was stopped and her eyes widened. she raised a hand to her throat and made a choking sound. the man brushed past her, murmuring an apology as he walked.
he murmured a name, looking around the musty room filled with books. "alice..." his eyes darted to a thin book bound in blue. he walked over, and grabbed the book. the man dropped the book, watching it to fall open.
he leaned over the book, clasping his hands behind his back. he tilted his head and a faint glow began to emanate from the pages. the man nodded and straightened up, then stepped forward-- into the book.
when the man's sight came back into focus, everything was a whole lot brighter. the man appeared bored as he looked around at the tall mushrooms and flowers. a rustling could be heard from behind the man, and, with the same bored expression, he snapped his fingers, causing a handsome man in a baby blue suit to appear in front of him.
the new man glared, crossing his arms. "if it isn't kim namjoon."
namjoon grinned, moving closer the the man in the suit. "good to see you again, jin."
the glare melted from jin's face and he embraced namjoon, now smiling. "it's good to see you too." he took a step back and held the other's shoulders. "i'm guessing you need help?"
namjoon snorted in indignation. "i don't need your help, reality needs your help."
jin sighed. "...fine. we'll go."
it was at that moment when namjoon saw the curl of purple smoke wrapped around the other man's neck. namjoon groaned, realizing what the curl of smoke was.
"you still have that blasted cat, don't you." jin just grinned and nodded, petting the now cat shaped and solidified smoke curl.

they exited wonderland the same way they entered it, through the 'alice and wonderland' children's book. when they got back to the 'real world' namjoon realized there was now light streaming through the room's window.
"so my book was still here..." jin's soft voice broke the silence, a hint of sadness was evident in his words.
"i mean, think about it. if your book wasn't still here, i wouldn't have known where to find you." namjoon attempted to comfort the fairytale character, but his words had little effect.
jin shook off his sadness and turned to namjoon, now holding the cheshire cat in his arms. "who are we finding next?"

"seriously? that kid?" jin grumbled not very happy with namjoon's response. maleficent, a slightly annoying, handsome, and fairly innocent, twenty year old boy with horns and wings.
"how're we supposed to even find him? isn't he technically a villain?" jin asked, still disgruntled.
namjoon glared at him, "i'm technically a villain! and don't worry, it's not that hard to find him." now namjoon was the disgruntled one, and for the next few minutes they walked in silence down the road.
the clouds from earlier in the day had cleared, but the dreary air still hung over the city. the streets were still empty, and if anything, there seemed to be less life than when namjoon had walked alone.
"we're almost there." namjoon stated once they were at the edge of town. "i've got the book with me, but we've got to be in a forest. hurry."
namjoon sped up, jin quickly following. they walked a little ways into the forest, and namjoon pulled another children's book out of his satchel. he repeated the process that he used to enter jin's book, but this time grabbed jin's hand as he stepped into the glowing pages.

they were in a forest. a forest, that was filled with life. there were birds, rodents, and mammals of all types. there were different types of plants-- some of which probably didn't even belong in the biome.
"now, all we need to do, is destroy something." namjoon explained, glancing around. his eyes fell on a large tree, with vines in practically every color curled around the trunk. he snapped his fingers and and axe appeared his hand.
namjoon swung the axe, and a moment before it hit the bark of the tree, a hand stopped the blade.
"what. are. you. doing." the voice was to smooth and nice for the tone the words were spoken in. namjoon looked up to see a boy, dressed in dingy brown clothes, with brown hair and curled horns.
"jungkook. long time no see!" namjoon smiled, ignoring the glare plastered on the younger man's face. namjoon coughed, glancing over at jin, who shrugged as if to say 'you got yourself into this, you get yourself out.'
turning back to the boy, he gave a sort of smile then began. "look, the real world needs your help."
jungkook crossed his arms and frowned. "you come to my forest, and you attempt to chop down one of my trees, and you expect me to help you?" there was an incredulous tone to his voice. "you're an idiot."
"oh come on, you know it's the easiest way to get you over here is do do that." namjoon complained, his arms now folded over his chest.
"ugh." jungkook groaned, "why do you have to make sense! it's not fair..." he was whining now, his youth showing in his words.
namjoon laughed, throwing his head back. "i take it that means you'll be joining us?"
"i guess..." jungkook thought, "who is involved in this 'us?'"
namjoon shrugged, "same crew as last time-- if i can get them to come..."
jungkook sniffed. "red too?" he asked. namjoon responded with a nod, causing jungkook to groan loudly.
"oh come on," jin butted in, "we know you love him." his voice was teasing, making jungkook send him a glare.
after making a face, jungkook finally agreed. "okay, let's go. who are we getting next?"
