"Sammy! Why can't you be normal", my nanny, Haley, asked as she closed the door to the staircase; that leads to the top floor of a partially blown up business building.

When I get bored or just want to get away from humanity, I climb onto the roof of this building, where I can relax and think as I feel the midnight breeze blow my long, raven black hair. The only person that knows about my hideout is Haley, being that she is my only friend; actually, she is more like an older sister.

She has been my nanny, literally, since I was born, being that my mom is the current ruler of Catania. Haley has been there when I first walked, talked, went to school, and mainly during all the important events in my life; unlike my mother. But I don't blame her for not being there for me; I'm actually very glad she wasn't.

Unlike my carefree and fun nanny, my mother seems to be extremely strict and over protective. Obviously, you can guess who I like more.

" Samantha Jamie Kyle, are you listening to me", Haley exclaimed, trying to get my attention.

I sighed, wishing she would leave me alone for a few minutes so I could calm down. Right now, I'm angry at the fact that I'm only 16 and my mom was talking about me becoming queen and about me having an arranged marriage, since I'd rather not waste time my time on guys. She made me sound like I'm an animal that she has complete control over.

"No one is normal, Haley. I've told you that a thousand times before, and I'd rather not continue saying it... Can you just leave me alone for a while? I just need time to think, and it's a beautiful night. The clear night sky with billions of glistening stars and the amazing full moon... What do you think," I asked, as I looked at the 39 year old nanny.

She actually looks a lot younger than 39; she looks like she's 18, maybe 20. The only way you can tell that she is older than 18 is by looking at the silver streaks in her hair. Each time we talk about it, she claims that I am the reason she has grey hair, which is very likely.

She chuckled as she looked up at the sky with her faded jade eyes, as she replied,” It is nice out, but it’s extremely cold out. I really suggest you come inside and wrap up in a blanket, so you won’t get sick.”

I only shook my head, not minding the spring time breeze. “I’m fine, but you should go home if you’re tired or cold. I don’t want to be the reason why you got sick from freezing to death and lack of sleep.”

She nodded her head before giving me a hug and walked back to the staircase. I waited till the sound of her footsteps disappeared to stand up and run to the other side of the roof, where I hid a backpack full of extra clothes and supplies that I will need for the upcoming months.

I’m tired of being controlled like a puppet and I’m tired of not being respected; that is why I am running away.

Because I have no friends, the only person that would honestly miss me would be Haley; meaning that no one will be looking for me. And if someone was trying to find me, it would only be because I’m next in line to be queen. But I’ll only be gone for a few months, being that it will be more than enough time to think things through.

When I got to the place where I hid it at, I opened it up to see if I hand everything packed.

3 pairs of clothes, check. A gallon contain for water, check. Half a month’s supply of food, check. Knife, check. Gun, check. First aid kit, check. A fishing net, check. My fingerless gloves with metal retractable claws, check. Cell phone and charger, check. Jacket, check. I think that’s it!

I stuff the supplies back into my bag and take out a prewritten note I made, if Haley came here to find me. I didn’t tell her where I’m heading, not because I don’t even know where I’m heading, but because I told her not to worry about me and that I would be fine.

Once I close the bag, tossed it over my shoulder, and taped the note to the staircase door, I turned to face the edge of the roof, to see a five story building a mile away from the building I’m standing on. I breathed in and out, knowing the next thing I do will be the most insane thing I have ever done in my life… I ran as fast as I could and jumped off the building, landing on the five story building.

When I landed on the building, a small grin grew on my face, liking how the wind blew through my hair when I jumped. When I finally caught my breath, I stood up to examine my environment.

When Catania was first founded, the citizens tried to rebuild and repair the buildings in our district. The buildings and everything got repaired extremely quickly and we also expanded our district by going out of Gotham’s city limit; but we made sure the other districts don’t intercept with the expansion. I have to admit, I love how the new buildings are all dark and have black tinted windows. Yes, I love dark colors; most citizens here like dark colors, being that dark colors represents mystery and stealth.

Anyways, the buildings around me are all five stories and are just a few yards away from each other, making it easy to jump roof to roof. I stood up again and jumped to the next building, and the next and the next. As much as I wanted to stop, I couldn’t help but be fascinated by how easy it is for me to jump off a building and land on my feet, without getting injured.

After jumping onto the 33rd building, I stood up to examine my surrounding again. I’m starting to get closer to the border of Catania; being that each time I go closer to the border, the less buildings there are. The buildings that are also closer to the border get shorter, too.

I try to look past the next building, which is just three stories high, to see a 15 foot tall metal fence; which has a 6 story tall building, which looks almost 5000 years old, on the opposite side of it. I grinned, knowing that if I land on the old looking building, I would be in the neighboring district.

Since it has been 5000 years since the districts were created and people were too stupid to keep everything written down, no one in Catania remembers what the neighboring districts are; we only know to stay away from them, there is a total of eight districts, and out of the other seven districts, one hates Selina Kyle, the creator of Catania.

Hopefully, this district doesn’t hate Catania. If they did, they would have tried to kill us or something.

As I begin to back up to jump on the next building, I hear police sirens coming from the center of Catania, towards me.

‘Sorry, but one day a kitty has to leave the litter’, I thought to myself as I ran and jumped onto the next building.

I looked up at the building to see it would be too difficult to land on the roof, meaning that I have to smash into the building.

I stepped back to the end of the building, wanting to have a running start. As I began to run, I grabbed my left arm and pulled it to my right side, so my left shoulder would break the glass when I collide into it.

In a matter of seconds, I jumped over the fence and smashed into the building, rolling onto the floor and landing on my back.

Not only was I now dizzy, I felt a sharp pain in my left arm and left side of my head. I slid my right hand up my left arm to feel something wet literally covered with it. I lifted my hand to see the liquid was a crimson like substance… blood, my blood…

After a minute of pain, I closed my eyes and passed out, wishing that the bleeding would cease and the pain would disappear…
