Gripping the scythe's handle, Daniel swung the blade and nearly decapitaded me.
"Oh, so it's ok to nearly decappitate your best friend AND part-mentor?"
"Uh, sorry Robin. Hey, at least I stopped the blade." Daniel heaved the long blade over his shoulder and put it gently against his bed post. There (still) aren't many people in Shadow army, allowing each of us to have our own room. Although, I think Hayden might have a reason for it, just what?
I was - once again - sitting outside the main door to Shadow army when Seth nearly shoved me to the side. I grabbed the back of his robes and yanked the parchment strait out of his hands. I looked over the paper raising my eyebrows slightly.
"Seth, do you have some sort of death wish or something, cause this is screaming your asking for one."
"No, I don't have one, but I'm well aware that I might die."
Grumbling, I walk down the steps, not looking forward to Hayden's reaction.
{a few moments later!!!}
Hayden looks ready to destroy Seth and laugh about it. "Uh, Hayden, what did Seth mean about 'Recruit Day?'
"It's the one day when the leaders leave to look for new recruits. I went once, it was horrible. People were every where, trying to get our attention." The way she said it, I had the feeling that she hated crowds or city's.
"I'm taking Daniel with me." I looked at Daniel, who was all ready grabbing his scythe and pack, his normally happy face replaced by a grim mask, taking me by surprise. "Your coming too Robin. Go pack. You've got 7 minutes. I'm counting. Run." Something in her voice made me realize that both her and Daniel knew something and she wasn't kidding about counting. I grabbed my hoodie, notebook, spear that was coated in poison at the tip, and pack stuffed with basic suplies and made a mad sprint down the hallway down to Hayden.
{A few day's later}
Four towns and 14 days. Nothing. No one for Thief, Oceanic, Sorcery, or Shadow. Generally, me and Dan go and look for anything.
"It's over! The mountain will fall! Nothing can stand forever! You have to believe me." The man's voice came out in a horse whisper before he was dragged away by the police.
"He's lying. Ignore him." Hayden said bitterly.
"How do we know you're not?" Dan's voice drips with venom as he hisses out the words.
"You don't. You guy's can all way's leaves. I don't care. It'd be for the best if you left, stayed out of trouble and away from me."
It hit me. Hayden knew from the start that Stone army's legacy would fall to the ground, like so many others. She didn't go to find recruit's because she knew that the strings of fate wouldn't let anyone go free and safe if they joined the Stone army ranks. She knew that we would all die. All those days she would let us relax and play. Her hesitation to give us our first weapon. That sorrow and anger in her eyes that's never left, not once.
"Hayden, it's over, isn't it. ISN'T IT?"
Her body slumped over in defeat, telling us we were right, it was over.
"Yes and no. It's impossible to unravel the strings of time once they're put in place on the tapestry. The Enderdragon's son - my half brother - is coming. So is the biggest war of all time. It's against the worst foe of all time."
I look at her in confusion, cocking my head slightly.
"It's against ourselves Robin. There is no way to escape this fate. I'm allowing ourselves to fight ourselves so that maybe the war might not happen again, yeah?"
"Do the other's know?"
"No, I haven't told them yet. Only us. I'll make the announcement when we get back. My advice is to run if you value your life. The choice is your, of course."
If I, Robin of Shadow, was going to die, it would be fighting young and not in a bed sick.
"When do we start?" The smallest traces of a grin appear on Hayden's face.
"6 days. 6 day's until we dance with death." Of course, in the day's to come, the strings of fate were wrong. Very, very wrong. Of course, none of us knew this, so I guess you, dear reader, will have to find out what happens next! >: )
Author's note -
