Imagine Kai coming to you with his newfound feelings. (PART TWO)
**
"You don't actually believe him, do you?" Damon asked me with wide eyes. I shrugged, looking back at the students fucking about in the courtyard. David was still trying to learn how to skateboard with all the cool kids even though he could barely stand on his own two feet without falling on his ass.
"Damon, I honestly don't know what to believe," I told him, shaking my head. "If you were there with me, you would have seen his face. I really don't think he was making it up."
"Kai is a sociopath. No regard for life."
I turned my body towards my best friend in attempt to make him understand where I was coming from. Damon's blue eyes didn't drop the skeptical glaze over his icy orbs. "Okay, yeah, that's the Kai we thought of before he merged with Luke. You know, the twin that had emotions? What if he not only got the power, but the feelings too?"
"A supernatural bank transfer?"
"The scientific term is emotional transference. But this isn't really science, is it?"
My head whipped around to see Kai Parker standing behind me with roses in his hands. A pathetically hopeful smile on his face stared me too far straight in my eye to believe what was right there in front of me. Kai couldn't have been romantically making a gesture to me just because he thought he could feel right and wrong for the first time in his evil life. He couldn't be doing something that would go perfect with his looks, to create the perfect man I want to be with.
"Oh, Jesus fuck," Damon swore behind me, hissing loudly like an angry snake. Both Kai and I could hear the words clear as day coming from the other side of my back. I threw my hand behind me to shush him by hitting whatever body part I could reach.
"Hello, Kai," I said with an attempted warm smile. I truly wanted to feel flattered by his gift, but I couldn't get over his disgusting ways; his evil ways. Despite how much wanting to like this new him, I couldn't forget what he did to my very best friends and what he tried to do to me. Kai was an man who we never should have let out from the Prison World; now we had to live with the (suddenly alright?) consequences.
He stepped closer to finish his reason for showing up uninvited. "Y/N, I truly do want to take you on a date."
Damon stepped quickly in front of my sitting figure to put some space between the psychopath and myself. My best friend wanted to do everything in his power to stop me from going on a date with someone who had done nothing but terrorize us in our own homes. Kai's facial expression dropped from happy to annoyed when he saw the oldest Salvatore brother take his spot in front of me. I abruptly stood too, trying to get up before anything too intense happened.
"Leave, Kai," Damon demanded when he took his spot. "You're not wanted here."
Kai dropped his nice act and put back on his scary voice for the Salvatore man. "Damon, I don't remember you being invited into this conversation. Maybe you should butt out."
I half expected Damon to fly back to the other side of the park or drop to the ground, holding his temple in pain, but nothing happened to my best friend. They both continued to stand there, staring each other down like they were wolves. Kai actually restrained himself when he got mad. He didn't try to physically hurt Damon in any way. Maybe Kai had actually changed for the better like he claimed he did.
"Boys," I said, stepping between them. Neither of them looked to me and broke the stare down. I put my hand on both of their chests, lightly pushing them away from each other. "We are surrounded by humans and they would't appreciate the sudden reveal of the supernatural if y'all fight. So let's be adults and talk it out."
