"When I saw you
I fell in love, and
You smiled
Because you knew."
- William Shakespeare.

Empire State of Mind.
New York was a busy place to live, Shia would know this.
Growing up in the busiest place on earth was not a simple task, yet New York was her home and the place to be.
At nineteen years of age Shia had landed herself a brag-worthy job as a waitress in one of the most upperclass hotels New York had to offer. Of course, her Aunt Stacy was to thank. Without her Shia would never had been able to land this job. Having her Aunt work there had its own perks.
"Shia, dude back off. You can't steal all the shifts."
Shia turns around in the busy kitchen to be faced by a blonde boy, perhaps two inches taller than she was. Lightly freckled skin and hazel eyes.
"Alright Lloyd. It's your turn, try not to burn the kitchen down will you?" She responded trying not to think about the past experiences he had with a hot kitchen stove.
"You seem to always underestimate your best friend. Quite frankly I am hurt", Lloyd mockingly places a hand over is heart.
Shia throws the apron at him revealing her white button up shirt and black pants, not much but a required uniform.
"Well I'm off Bruce!" Shia calls out to the head chef earning herself a nod. The hotel was very prestige and was mostly occupied by businessmen and large companies. The occasional rich kids would be seen but mostly, people in suits is all you could see.
Shia runs down the stairs just in time to stop the elevator. The hotel was huge and the restaurant was at the highest level. Waiting for it to come back up after going down to the lobby was a pain in the ass, and there was no way Shia was taking the stairs.
To Shia's surprise there was only one other person in the elevator with her. A boy, he looked maybe a year or two older than she was, pale skin, golden hair and darting green eyes.
Shia slowly stepped in, trying to stop her constant panting and smiled.
"Sorry about that. It's a bit of a mad rush, don't wanna have to walk to the lobby."
The boy moved his head to face hers as if he just noticed her existence.
For the first time, Shia noticed the boys ear phones in.
"Oh, sorry", Shia says softly.
The boy just smirks to himself.
Shia leans in to press L for lobby, but as she moves to press it, but before she can earphone boy presses it for her.
"I'm glad you didn't walk to the lobby".
Shia slightly blushes, she wasn't that type of girl. Working was life to her. You always need to work to get somewhere.
Perhaps she worked for the recognition or the independence, but either way she wasn't one of the girls who chase after the boys and frankly they never seemed to bother with her much.
What the boy had said had taken her off guard.
Building up her courage Shia extends her arm across her body to the boy.
"I'm Shia by the way".
The boy turns to face her again taking out his left earphone.
"Felix", the boy responded shaking her hand.
Shia nodded and building some courage decided to talk to Felix.
"What song?"
"What?"
"What song are you listening to?"
"Time to dance."
Shia became very startled.
"You listen to Panic! At The Disco?!"
The boy now turned to completely look at her, his golden locks covering half of his left eye.
"Yeah. Why, do you?" He asked her.
"Of course I do! They are only the best."
The boy smiled at her. The first time he had since they had met.
He knew.
He knew.
"Cool".
"Yeah, cool".
Authors Note:

This is planned to be a short story but I'll see where I can go with it.
In the mean time, I hope you enjoy it and show your love for this book because it is a plot I have wanted to write for awhile now.
