After 51 minutes of sitting in a classroom with a complete stranger talking to us, the class period was over. I packed my stuff up and walked up to Anna's desk.
"Next time it's a detention, Miss. Taylor." She handed me my phone without even a glance.
I took it and walked over to the door and closed it before making my way back to her desk.
"What the hell happened back there Anna?"
"It's Miss. Carter to you Carson." She still wasn't making eye contact with me.
"Miss. Carter? Since when?" I chuckled dryly. "You're not the Anna I talked to last night."
She didn't say anything, continuing to 'grade papers' that were on her desk.
"Look at me," I stated, dropping my bookbag and crouching to her eye level.
She continued to stare down at the paper but had stopped writing.
"Anna," I said, hoping that would catch her attention.
She didn't move, causing me to sigh. I stood up and walked out of her room, not caring to grab my bag. I skipped math and walked out the back doors, towards the middle school. I needed Jen right now, whether we were talking or not. I jogged over to the middle school, knocking on her outside door.
"Oh, hey Carson. Aren't you suppose to be in math right now?" Josh asked.
"I need Jen. I know we aren't talking, but I need her." I started to tear up.
Jen peeped out from her office, smiling at me.
"Come here." She said opening her arms.
I walked in and sunk into her arms, letting the tears fall. She slid down her wall with me in her arms. After a few minutes, I finally calmed down.
"Jen, I'm so sorry," I told her, moving away a little bit.
"We don't have to talk about that right now. What's got you so upset Car?"
"I don't know how to even start to tell you," I said.
"Well, start from the beginning maybe? Like, you could tell me where you went last night because I know you weren't at Chloe's." She said, giving me a look.
"Yeah. You're right, I didn't go to Chloe's. And I'm sorry I told you I did, I just knew you'd get upset with me if I told you where I actually went."
"So where did you actually go, Carson?" Jen asked.
"I um, I went to Coach Carter's," I said, not making eye contact with her.
"Why? How'd you even get her address?"Jen asked, sitting up a bit more.
"I asked her for it," I stated simply.
"Why would you do that though? Why not just come home and confide in me?" Jen asked, I knew she was hurt, but I couldn't look at her after what I said before practice.
"I messed up. After what I said to you yesterday, I couldn't look at you. I should never have accused you of not loving me or taking care of me. I was just really mad and I'm not really sure why. I'm so sorry Jen." Tears continued to flow from my eyes.
"Hey, it's alright babygirl. I get it, you were mad. Yes, it hurt, but I'm alright." Jen replied.
She kissed my forehead with a smile.
"Is this all you wanted to talk about?" She asked.
"There's actually something else," I said slowly.
