Chapter 2

He sat outside the emergency operating theatre, his head in his hands. Mom, please be fine. He couldn't believe that Kihyun really went to the extent of hurting his mother just because he ignored his text.

Gang members really are something. They're the most despicable scum of the Earth.

He was deep in thoughts when suddenly a pair of shiny black heels appeared before his eyes. Looking up, his eyes narrowed in annoyance.

"Here to check if Mom is dead so you get a share of her belongings?" He snarled. Sihyeon tucked her glossy blonde hair behind her ear. In her eyes was a fire Hyunwoo had never seen before.

"Who did this?" She hissed, pointing a manicured finger at the closed doors. "Yoo Kihyun," He replied, looking down at his shoes.

He felt the sharp pain from the slap before he even saw her hand coming. "Didn't I warn you to be cautious around that rat?" She seethed, her eyes flashing with resentment. "What did you do to provoke him?" She grabbed him by the chin, forcing him to meet her eyes.

"He asked me to meet him at the back of the restaurant and- " Sihyeon cut him off with a cry of exasperation. "And you didn't follow his instructions, didn't you?" She grabbed her hair in her hands and turned away.

"I don't know what you're thinking, Son Hyunwoo, but I hope you know you're being extremely stupid!" She whipped around and yelled at him. A few nurses walking by told them to keep quiet and Sihyeon did so reluctantly.

They sat beside each other in silence for next few hours, ignoring each other. Hyunwoo let out a sigh and turned to Sihyeon. "Look, I'm sorry, okay?" He apologized.

Sihyeon turned around and shot him a dirty look. "Just keep your hands out of this. I'll take over from here." Hyunwoo frowned. "You? How?" Sihyeon fell back into silence and pointedly ignored his question.

She's being really suspicious. He noticed her texting a number of people rapidly, occasionally walking off to answer a call.

I wonder what she's planning. And I really wonder how she plans to deal with Kihyun. That man literally runs the city's most wanted gang.

He checked his phone. It was already 9:00 pm. I should probably head to the club he instructed me to meet him at.

After the incident earlier that day, he learned the hard way that Kihyun wasn't someone you could say no to.

He got up and left the hospital.
