Chapter 1: Senioritis

I hated school with a burning passion. It just wastes your time to make you learn about things you will never need in your future career. It was my first day of senior year at Arrowsmith High. I had an early diagnosis of senioritis and knew it would be a year full of goofing off. I had my grey tank top with a white and blue checkered flannel pairing it with my jean shorts and combat boots. At least I had a cute outfit.

I got there earlier than usual so I could get my class schedule. I walked through the halls of my teenage prison when I got tackled and was sent flailing not so gracefully to the ground. At least my face caught my fall.

Im going to shank somebody with my pencil.

I looked up to see who I would be stabbing when I was met with familiar grey eyes. It was my best friend Camilla Dickey. Her hair was lighter than the usual dark brown and her skin had gotten much tanner since the last time I saw her. She was wearing a white laced tank with high waisted shorts and white vans.  She’d left on a trip to Hawaii 3 months ago to visit old family leaving me with nothing to do but sit at home and watch Netflix all day.

She snickered at me and didn’t even help me up. Rude.

“Bitch!” I swatted at her narrowly missing.

“Oh sorry I didn’t see you there, Abby.” she said with a mouthful of sarcasm and a mischievous grin.

We hugged and told each other about our summers. She hadn’t changed a bit since I first met her junior year. She was still the same smartass, sociable, pretty Camilla.

We got to the office where many others were waiting. The office ladies made us all sit outside in the hallway while they called us one by one off the sign in sheet. There was lots of commotion and screaming from everyone greeting each other as if they hadn’t just seen each other last week before coming here. Camilla and I were in the middle of a conversation with our many friends when the oldest office lady came outside. She resembled Betty White, but looked much older than her. A loud screech came from her throat,” ABIGAL KESSLER!?!?!”

I started getting up when once again I heard it except more impatient,” ABIGAL KESSLER!?!?!?!?”

“Yeah, Coming!” I yelled back

She looked at me irritated as if I had done something wrong. Did you hear how loud you were screaming?

I got my class schedule and was pleasantly surprised to find that I got good classes…until I looked at the last class. I got Ms. Goldberg for history class oh the joys. She was actually a really young teacher and you would think she wouldn’t be so uptight but you’d be very wrong. That quack has hated me since my freshman year ever since I went to give my friend (who was a senior at the time) his homework that he had forgotten. I walked in while she was telling a story about her cats and she thought I was being a nuisance and gave me an hour of detention. She had it out for me ever since.

My mood lifted a little when I saw that me and Camilla had a few classes together. I found out that one of my good friends Silas Locke had math and science with me. He was your typical class clown but a little hotter and more charming so at least id be entertained.

I was walking to my first class when I felt as if someone had been staring at me. The feeling wouldn’t subside so I looked inconspicuously to my left. A few people were there but none looking at me. I turned to the right and saw a boy around my age looking at me intently. He had light brown hair with deep blue eyes that you could literally get lost in. His jaw line was well defined as was the rest of his body. He was slumped against a wall with hands in his pockets. He also had a perfect tan from the summer’s sun.

HOT DAMN!!

I guess I had been staring a bit too long since he started walking toward me. Oh god was he going to think I was weird because I was looking at him? Well to be fair he was staring at me first. Then again maybe he was looking past me. Just when he was about 3 feet away I dropped my phone that I had just gotten a month ago. Damn hot guys making me all uncoordinated.

“SHIT!!”

He picked up my phone and gingerly handed it to me, then stared into my bright green eyes for what seemed like forever. I wanted to look away but a part of myself wouldn’t let me it was as if I was transfixed. Then, just like that, he nodded at me and walked away.

I arrived at my first period still a little confused and looked around the room. I knew basically everyone in my school. I guess you could classify me as popular but I don’t think I belong to any certain group. I decided to sit in the middle next to a few of the cheerleaders I knew and looked at the door to see if anyone else I knew was in my class and to my astonishment he walked in. His plain white shirt showed off his muscles nicely and he was sagging his pants a little too much for my liking but he was still amazingly good looking. To think I had been so close to whoever he was in the hallway made me ask why I hadn’t noticed him around school before. A few of his buddies had saved him a seat in the back and he greeted them with the handshake-fist bump thing that guys do.

“Who is that?” I whispered to Sadie.

“That’s Barret Coker. He transferred here sophomore year he’s kind of a dick.” She explained,” He is extremely good looking though.” The last part she said with a coy smile

Maybe this year will be interesting.
