I awoke in a cold sweat, her scream still echoing in my mind. I was suddenly terrified. I mean, what if something ACTUALLY happened to her? I don't think I'd be able to stand it.
Her soft, luscious, shiny hair had turned immediately dull. Her beautiful emerald green eyes that are normally filled with life were suddenly so blank and lifeless. Watching her limp body fall from the tree absolutely terrified me.
I was starting to hyperventilate when I heard a noise outside my door. I quickly turned and checked my alarm clock to see that is was 2:30 am. Too early for my dad to go to work and too late for my sister to get back. I slid under the covers silently and turned my head away from the door. I always lock my door before I go to sleep. It helps calm me. I feel less vulnerable that way.
I slowly reached out for the pocket knife I keep in a special place in my headboard. I palmed it, ready to move fast, if need be.
The door opened slowly and in walked..........
