Gary

We sat around the campfire roasting marshmallows while Quinn was playing a harmonica. "So, who wants to hear a scary story?" A girl whose name was Maizie. Quinn stopped playing and immediately, her eyes lit up. "Yes! Let it rain blood!" She jumped up with joy. I liked to hear horror stories but I wasn't in the mood mostly because I didn't have an empty stomach.

Anyway, Maizie pulled out a mask and put it onto her face to make herself look scary. She then picked up a small plastic knife and threw it into the fire; making the flames rise.

"Allow me to tell you the tale of the infamous Jason Voorhees who was our camp mascot. Legend has it that ever since he was a young boy he had a fear of water because he wasn't a strong swimmer. One day, he and his mother were rowing out on the lake in their canoe and it was getting dark. Jason didn't notice until they hit a tree branch which tipped their canoe over into the dark water. His mother got her head hit on one of the rocks and was knocked unconscious. Jason feared for his mother's safety so he tried to push her back onto the canoe. He managed to until he got a severe cramp and drowned. The next day, his mother's body was found floating on the lake and was given medical surgery. No one noticed that her son was missing until she awoke. But many have heard Jason's cries for his mother at night. But no one knows where his body remains. It's just out there; floating downstream." Maizie finished off the story with a jump scare.

"So, how was it?" She asked immediately after. "Well," I began but Quinn interrupted me. "I wanna hug poor widdle Jason! He's just a child lost without his mommy!" Quinn said. Maizie turned to look at me. She put her hand on her hip and raised an eyebrow. "Well Gary? Your thoughts?" She asked. "Eh, it was cliché. Like every other horror story. Dumb blondes everywhere." I said. I looked over at Quinn who was mad at me. "Not you! You're really smart! Unlike them." I said, mumbling the last sentence under my breath.

We headed back to our cabin and before we entered, we saw a note on our door. It read Child of the wilderness is no lie. Signed: Jason. Quinn took the paper and studied it for a moment. She then shrugged and turned it onto the back; taking out a pen. I watched her write down You're adorable. Then, she made it into a paper airplane and threw it; with it heading into the woods.

We then headed on inside and stayed up for a bit telling scary stories. I went to sleep around 10 and at 4 AM, I heard someone sneak in. I grabbed a nearby flashlight and shined it onto Quinn. "Ah! Gary! What are you doing up?!" She hissed. She was dressed in a pink bathroom and had on her night cap with her hair running down her back.

"Sorry." I turned off the flashlight but it was too late. Maizie had woken up and began telling a scary story about one of the camp counselors.
