It was already 7 in the evening. Without bothering about the dorm's curfew, Emery was still in the library, sitting on her favorite study desk. She was really busy attending to a paper due tomorrow. Or was she? Though, it was obvious that sleep was already bothering her, she made sure to gulp loads of caffeine just to keep her alive that night. On the other hand, t'was not just really the caffeine,it was as well because of a picture she hung at the top of the desk. A photo of her long time crush, Vladimir. I know, too cheesy right?
Astoundingly, as cliche as it may sound, she has fallen quite hard for him. Why wouldn't she? He was exactly what every girl dreams of for a guy. Outstandingly handsome, superbly brilliant and most especially a gentleman.
Emery, on the contrary, was just simple and nerdy. And she definitely is not an attention-getter. Or was she really? However, she also was quite very impressive when it comes to IQ challenges. She should be. The truth is, she was already done with the paper. Emery was just trying to enjoy herself reading the paper for the nth time. Ocassional pastime perhaps. Her true motive in breaking the housedorm rules, which she does every Friday night, was to see... or rather stalk on him. Vladimir.
"Where is he?" Emery mumbled to herself remorsefully. She sighed and pouted. She was obviously disappointed. " I guess he's not coming today." She shut her laptop off, arranged her books and when she was about to take the photo, it fell off.
"Dang it!" As she bent over to reach for it, someone beat her.
"Here lemme..." The stranger talked.
She looked up and she was dumfounded when she realized who it was.
"V-Vladimir?"
"This yours?" He asked, smiling.
She almost fell on her knees. Good thing she was able to lean on the desk. Her body was weakened. "Ah... ah... yeah... thanks!" She was so embarrassed that she hurriedly ran off after grabbing the photo. She no longer mind about her manners. She was panicky.
She can't help blushing so much. She knew that even without looking at a mirror, she was as red as a tomato. Her heart was beating so fast that she was hyperventilating.
"Oh my God! Did he see the picture? Oh... this is embarrassing." She can't really hide the embarrassment because of that close encounter with her so called longtime crush/ the one. She felt like gagging because of the severe nervousness.
She looked around the library's corridor. It was empty. She felt relaxed a bit. If somebody saw her running like that, they would really think she saw the library ghost. The one in the school rumored legends. Hilarious.
"It's okay Em. Calm down." She patted her chest. She was, yeah, actually talking to herself.
"Hey! Uhm..." She shrieked because of the voice that appeared nowhere.
"What the...?" She turned around to look for its owner. She was stupefied seeing whose it was. She suddenly lost her balance and then it happened. She was falling down. Undoubtedly, like the london bridge. She closed her eyes because she no longer knew what to do. When she just felt a strong arm caught her and pulled her forward. Unfortunately, her things were left falling especially her laptop. But it was not the laptop that worried her. It was the young man who's standing right infront of her. He was looking straight into her eyes. Awkward.
Emery got goosebumps. Her arms were pressed right on the man's chest and the latter's arms were right around her back. Their faces were inches away from each other. She can't stop blinking like crazy. Unbelievably. With the position they were in, well it was uncomfortable.
"Are you alright?" He smiled again. Now it was troublesome for her.
"Uh. Y-yeah. Thanks, Vlad! "She frantically let loose of his grasped and turned back from him. She feverishly picked up her books and stashed it without arranging into her backpack. Then, she turned to her laptop. "Dammit. It's messed up." She bit her lower lip in frustration. It's not as if she can't afford a new one. It's just really tiresome to install things on the new one again. Just a waste of time for her.
