Alex's pov
Lafayette and Hercules practically bursted out of the car, quickly grabbing their bags from the trunk and ran to a small group of people. As open the car door and slump over to them, I recognize the Schuyler sisters, Maria, and Philip Schuyler. I perk up slightly, glad to see familiar faces. They greet me with smiles, but they almost looked...sympathetic. Being my closest friends, they heard about what I was going through.
"Hi, Alex! How was your summer?" Eliza asked cheerfully. I shrugged and focused on the ground.
"I-It was okay."
"So you're majoring in law? What classes are you minoring in?" Angelica questioned.
"Art and ASL." I mumbled, barely audible. She nodded, the concerned smile still painted on her lips.

We walked across the campus as George, Martha, and Mr. Schuyler talked to each other. I feel a small hand connect with my own, and look up to find Peggy's eyes.
"We'll find him," She assured, squeezing my hand. "I promise." I swallowed up my feelings so they wouldn't burst out at that very moment. I hide it with a small smile.
"Thanks, Pegs."
As we check in, Mr. Schuyler, Peggy, and Maria hug Angelica and Eliza and say their goodbyes.
"We'll miss you guys!" Angelica said, hugging them tight. Eliza almost looked on the verge of tears as Peggy kissed her and Angelica's cheeks.
"I love you so much!" Eliza cried, giving her family one last hug.

I walked over to George and Martha, who were smiling at me. I engulfed both of them in a hug, holding them tight. Yeah, I had become antisocial, but I still loved them.
"We'll miss you, sweetheart." Martha said as she pulled away.
"I'll miss you too." I said quietly. I waved goodbye as they drove away, then turned to my friends.
"Yo, Alex, what room are you in?" Herc asked, eyeing his schedule as I glanced at my own.
"1776, how about you guys?" I asked.
Laffy and I are sharing room 1781, you're right down the hall." Herc said happily, sliding an arm around Laf's waist.
I cracked a small smile, and looked down at my phone. 10:39.
"Let's head to our rooms guys, I'm a little tired." I said, just loud enough for the group to hear.
"D'accord. Au revoir, girls!" Laf said, taking Hercules's hand in his own. As we walked across campus, I didn't learn people's names, and I didn't bother with faces. If I didn't have to argue, I wouldn't.

"À plus tard, mon ami." Laf said as he entered his room with Herc, who waved goodbye. I walked down the hall, slowly walking up to my dorm. I open the door and-
Sigh with relief. The room was empty, both beds bare and clean. I chose the right side of the room, and started unpacking.

John's pov
I take a deep breath as I step out of the car, a bit wobbly after driving for hours. I take in the campus laid out before me, barely believing I had made it here. I walked into the main building and over to the front desk.
"Name?" The lady asked nicely.
"Erm-John Laurens." She handed me a freshly printed paper with my classes, room number, and other important information.
"Thank you." I said. I walked out of the main building to the dorm building. It didn't take me long to find my room, 1776. I stood outside for a few moments, thinking.

Flashback
I stand outside the door for a good 5 minutes, hearing muffled voices from inside. Will they like me? Will they accept me? I knock on the door sheepishly, stepping back from the door ever so slightly. I hear more muffled noises and even a large bang! I reach for the knob when the door opened, a short boy around my age looking at me.
End Flashback

I blink back the tears before opening the door. My new roommate had gotten there first, he was kneeled on the ground, unpacking his things. His hair color reminded me of Alex's, ponytail and all, making me smile.
"Welcome to the dorm," I froze. That...that voice..."I don't expect you to like me, or whatever, I don't talk a lot and I work nonstop-"
"A-Alexander?" He stopped moving and slowly stood up, turning around, disbelief
"John?"
Chocolate brown eyes, beautiful face-it was him. It was actually him.

We found eachother...

He flung himself into my arms and we held each other tight, sobbing hard.
"I-I c-ca-can't bel-l-lieve I f-found y-you, I had r-really b-bad nightmares th-that h-he h-hurt you, I thought y-you w-were, I thought y-you were..." I picked him up and carried him to one of the beds, laying him on top of me as we cried together. I rubbed circles into his back, whispering sweet little nothings into his ear.
"I m-missed y-you so m-much, Lex." I sniffled, pulling him closer.
"I missed y-you t-to. Your father, I th-thought he...I thought he-" Alex broke into sobs, burying his head into the crook of my neck.
"Shh...I know, it's o-okay, I-I'm okay." I said, trying to calm him and myself down. I ran my fingers through his soft hair as Alex curled up beside me, his head on my chest. He held on to my hand, bringing it to his heart.
"Alex...I thought...I thought I'd never get to see you a-again." I cried, wiping my face.
I felt his soft lips on my jawline.
"I love you." He whispered against my neck, tickling the skin.
"I love you too, baby girl," I said, kissing his forehead.

"I'm so glad I found you."
