"Good morning Miss Malfoy." Said Professor McGonagall from her seated position behind the desk that dominated the front portion of her classroom.
"And an absolutely glorious morning it is Madame, do you not agree?" Said Roxanne as she strolled into the room, her smile bright and her belly full from the excellent breakfast she had just shared with Georgie, who had been the only girl of Roxanne's friends not still asleep when the two had clambered out of their beds and groggily made their way up to the Great Hall.
"Hmm... yes.." sniffed McGonagall, clearly unconvinced of the morning's gloriousness as she looked out at the torrent of rain that was bombarding the classroom's window.
Roxanne, being the first student to have arrived, looked around for the choicest of seats in which to plant herself for the duration of the meeting. A fire was blazing on the right side of the room, next to McGonagall's desk and Roxanne strolled to the front row of tables and sat in the chair closest to the fire.
Putting her bag down and pulling out her wand, she muttered a few words and proceeded to place her feet onto the cushion topped stool she had just conjured, reclining in the warmth emanating from the fireplace in front of her.
"An advanced little piece of magic, Miss Malfoy." Said McGonagall, regarding the now obviously comfortable blonde seated diagonally in front of her.
Roxanne, who had crossed her arms and was beginning to nod off in waiting for the other students to arrive, jerked her head up and replied, "hmm? Oh- yeah, it can be quite useful. I do try to educate myself with handy bits of magic like that.."
"Yes, I suppose one never knows when they might be able to catch up on their sleep- whatever the situation may be .."
Roxanne gave her a rye smile, but before she could reply a commotion started up in the hall outside the classroom's open door.
McGonagall was up and striding out the door in an instant, but not before Roxanne heard her mumble "...shouldn't have invited.." and "...should have guessed..." as she charged out of the room.
Roxanne closed her eyes and started to nod off yet again.
"Trying catch up on your beauty sleep, Malfoy? Not that you need it, I must say.."
Roxanne tensed as she was once again rudely awakened and popped open an eyelid.
She saw the tall form of none other than Sirius Black, sliding out the chair right next to the one Roxanne was sprawled out in.
She screwed up her eyes and yawned, stretching out her arms and sitting up a bit.
"Mmmhmm.. trying to get on my good side eh? Guess you don't want anymore of them messing with your looks, which, understandably is one of your more redeeming qualities.." Roxanne gestured to the nasty looking cut on his cheekbone, and to the bruise that, Roxanne was surprised to see, no longer adorned his right eye.
Sirius was lounging languidly in the chair now, facing Roxannne, and brought a hand up to the cut on the left side of his face- or the right side from Roxanne's point of view.
"But why'd you have Pomphrey get rid of the black eye and not the cut?" Roxanne questioned, looking at him.
"She couldn't- said it must have been put there by something cursed that wouldn't let magic heal it." He pointedly looked over at the ring adorning the tapping fingers of Roxanne's right hand. Her nails were long and black, and pointed- like talons.
Roxanne looked down at the ring too, curiously.
"Hmm, cursed huh? Well that's pretty cool ain't it?" She smiled looking back up at him.
